My Review of Cogswell Motors:
I was also hit with a surprise documentation fee after I had agreed verbally on the price of the car. At the closing, suddenly I was asked to pay $500 more on the car and a $130 documentation fee.

Tips:

Get the price of the new/used car in writing before the closing. They do not want to talk final price over the phone or with enough time for you to think about it prior to the closing.

Take your trade in by early, preferably the day before and get the trade in value established in writing. Tell them you will be back for the closing.

Tell them at the final closing that you will not pay the documentation fee. Do this after you have the written prices for the car and your trade. Be prepared to walk out if they won't waive the fee.

My Review of Cogswell Motors:
I have purchased 6 vehicles from Cogswell Motors over the last 10 years or so. We bought a Dodge Ram, a Ford Mustang, a Mercury Milan, a Ford Edge, a GMC Sierra, and a Ford Taurus. No matter what brand we have bought, Cogswell has always gone above and beyond to make sure we were fully satisfied. Our personal experience with Cogswell's staff has been very pleasant. Our salesmen have always gone out of their way to make buying a car a memorable, easy experience. We have never really had to shop around, because they've consistently given us a great deal time and time again. I would absolutely recommend Cogswell Motors to all my friends and family. I would also suggest that you take your car in for regular maintenance in the service department. No one knows your vehicle better than the people that sell them.

Also, I have spent a lot of time shopping online! Specifically Autotrader.com. A couple of times I have dealt the BDC. They have done an amazing job at pointing me to a sales person, and Keith Holbrook has been an amazing sales person. I appreciate all the work they have put into making my experience GREAT!!

My Review of Cogswell Motors:
My husband and I are getting ready to buy our 5th vehicle from Cogswell Motors. We have had a wonderful experience each time. They have been flexible when we wanted to drive the vehicle home overnight before we made our decision and everything in each process went smoothly. Our salesperson, Cathy Huett, has always bent over backward for us and we wouldn't go anywhere else. We have also serviced our vehicles with Cogswell and their service department has always been top-notch.

My Review of Cogswell Motors:
I do not like the $199 documentation fee. We agreed on a price of a car, then they threw me the extra $199 documentation fee on top of the price that I agreed to pay.

I also did not like the salesman going back and fourth talking to his sales manager. He went back and fourth five times...each time leaving me sitting with my wife for 10 minutes. I spent almost two hours in there and got nowhere. Basically, the salesman was just a ping pong ball, where I could have just talked to the sales manager.

That $199 doc. fee lost them a sale! I am not going to pay that rediculous fee especially since my payment would have been less than their doc. fee.
