Walked in based on an internet quote sent to me by Sandy Mukaitis in response to Truecar.com.. Turned out there is no Sandy at this dealer and never has been. She is a fictional bot who just sends email rep Mukaitis in response to Truecar.com.. Turned out there is no Sandy at this dealer and never has been. She is a fictional bot who just sends email replies. real nice..The salesman who approached us in the parking lot was new and a nice guy so I won't mention his name. He sat down with us and while we tried to tell him we are looking for a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, he proceeded to look very nervous, write stuff down and sweat a lot. We basically wanted two things: to test drive the 2011 Santa Fe and to discuss the email quote from the fictional employee named Sandy. He never acknowledged either one of those requests, just kept filling this form out and asking us questions for the form such as my name, phone number, etc. When he got to social security number, I objected and said we just need to test the car,no credit check is needed at this moment. He also would only look at and talk to me as if my husband wasn't sitting right next to me. At 3 different points he jumped up to go ask his manager something and each time would disappear for 10-15 minutes. Finally by the third time, I marched into the managers office myself and practically begged him to just let us test the Santa Fe, and why was this taking so long? Manager explained that the salesman was new and that I needed to relax and he will take care of us. Relax, really? Not exactly a professional thing to say to a customer. The Manager never once told us his name and was quite unfriendly. He then went and disappeared a couple more times to take bites of his egg sandwiches or b.s. with other co-workers. Meanwhile the new salesman is running back and forth like a chicken with his head cut off but no one seems to be really doing anything. I do feel bad for the salesman as he was nice enough and since he was new, he should have been managed better. However, his so-called manager looked like he couldn't be bothered. The place itself was very run-down and depressing and the other salesmen just sat around eating donuts and never even giving us as much as a hello or smile to us (mind you, we were the only customers in the place!). After 45 minutes of wasting our time, my husband finally loses it and tells the salesman if there is not a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe outside now for us to test, we are leaving. The manager jumps over and proclaims he is all out of 2011's! What?? Ok, why did no one mention this 45 minutes ago? so instead he says hes pulling up a 2012 Hyundai Tucson for us to test. ummm.why? We dont want and never asked for that. We finally get up and leave and the nameless manager chases us to our car and says why dont we even want to try the Tucson? We said b/c its not what we came in here for and you wasted our whole morning baiting and switching. not to mention being totally unfriendly, condescending and unprofessional. We were so disgusted with them that it turned us off of Hyundais completely. We ended up at a Ford dealer in Keyport where the salesman let us test two cars immediately with no hassle or questions asked. By the next day we were back to test a 2nd car and by the end of that day, we leased a new 2012 Ford Edge. Thats the way it was done, simple as that. Freehold Hyundai needs to take lessons. I would never step foot in there again. More
Very pleasant smooth experience by Frank. Much better feeling than Brad Benson!! I'm hoping to enjoy my 2012 Sonata for a long time. Take a look there if you're interested!! feeling than Brad Benson!! I'm hoping to enjoy my 2012 Sonata for a long time. Take a look there if you're interested!! More
These people are worse than the sterotypical shady dealer. I can't believe people are stupid enough to do business here. We stood around, ungreeted for way too long. Like Nick (the review below), I we dealer. I can't believe people are stupid enough to do business here. We stood around, ungreeted for way too long. Like Nick (the review below), I went to by a car with my father (who IS a military vet) and when we asked about the $4500 clunker program that was sprawled in HUGE letters across all their windows they told me it was just a joke. He talked to my father like was an idiot, wouldn't even acknowledge me, and would walk away from us mid sentence. They got me to this dealer under false pretenses too. The said they had the car I wanted when I called and said I was on my way. When I got there MAGICALLY the car had just sold {This is NOT a certified dealer, they do not sell that many cars that fast.) They weren't even very apologetic and had a "whoops" attitude. Then they said they had one like it and pulled up a station wagon that was the furthers thing from anything I would ever buy. After being forced on a test drive I didn't want to do, they sat me down and tried to cut me a deal for a car they didn't have and and didn't know if they would get it for months, but they wanted a deposit immediately. Don't waste your time here. Take a drive to Lester Glenn in Toms River. They are a certified dealer and they make buying a car as pleasant as a day at the spa and will cut you a deal that can't be beat. More
