My Review of Infiniti of Scottsdale:
I would encourage any reader to at least look at the 5 reviews below mine (back to June 1, 2009) and to review to other Infinity dealer that has reviews. I read every review for both dealers and visited 3 of the 4 Phoenix area dealerships. Infiniti of Scottsdale (IOS) was quite a distance for me since I live north of Phoenix, but I feel it was a no brainer to make the longer drive to IOS. All they asked when I contacted them for a price was an opportunity. I am glad I did as this was by far the easiest and most pleasant experience I have ever had at a car dealership. I have visited over 100 dealerships in many states, and have purchased 9 new vehicles over the past 20 plus years.
I was initially a little concerned why only 2 dealers had reviews and why one was so good and the other was not so good. As with most car buying experiences, there are surveys of some type, and what I think is actually nice about this site is getting feedback from actual customers. The “other” Infinity dealer with ratings had almost all ratings below a 2, then a short burst of high ratings. Then it was pointed out by “DCBA” on Pinnicale Infinity rating site on 2/18/09 that it appeared the dealer had employees possibly beef up some ratings. The high ratings did seem like an anomaly. I was especially concerned about the comments about finance. Interesting the person I had the most contact with at Pinnacle came from IOS and was very informative, but he also got a salesperson involved who (I hate to say) basically solicited for a tip and I don’t think I had been there an hour yet (at Pinnacle).
I spent a lot of time at Peoria Infinity. They has initially given me a good impression, but when compared to IOS, in retrospect I got a lot of BS and a lot of hard/pushy sales. I also had an “addendum” for over $13,000, which is an addition to MSRP. Feel free to ask them why they have a $1395 line item for Zaktec (a paint protectant). I found another car dealer that offered it at $29.95 with any service, and a couple other dealers I interacted with offer it for around $300 for 6 applications (recommended to reapply every 6 months). Peoria Infinity also had other items on addendum (window tint, security lug nuts) that were advertised as free on a sign next to the sales office. Had we not caught it, we would have paid them even more for those items as well. When I told Marlon at IOS about this, he explained he doesn’t have addendums.
My wife and I were talking about all this, and Marlon and a General Manager at another dealership said the same thing my wife and I discussed…why go to a dealership who treats and deals with anyone like this? Had I not invested so much time establishing a rapport at Peoria (now wasted time), I told the sales manager at Peoria I would have ended interactions and communication very early. This comment was based on an email I received after I left the Peoria dealership (and a couple phone calls trying to get thru all the BS). The email was from Marlon.
One concern I had was sending out several inquiries that I would be bombarded with calls and emails, so I asked everyone to follow up in 2 weeks if they wanted follow-up, but please don’t repeat contact with me. I got one email from almost everyone since they needed more detail before giving a quote, and Marlon included a couple nice things for me to check out (including this site). I figured I would contact other dealers if I had a potential deal, then see if I could get a better offer (which I did).
I was not exactly where I wanted to be with Peoria on the deal, but felt I might negotiate the right deal on one car (we were looking at 2 cars and I did end up buying 2 cars from Marlon). I told dealers I don’t share other prices, so just give me your best deal and it needs to beat others buy at least $200 (in fairness since initial person set the mark). Do this and you will find who is really being fair and willing to deal. Here is where is gets good – IOS blew everyone out of the water. From previous research and car buying, I have what I consider a good deal, great deal, and smoking deal.
I was in the good deal range on one car at Peoria, got into the great deal range at Superstition in Mesa, but got the smoking deal from IOS. Obviously a 2 car deal helped, but even on the one car there was a super great deal not contingent on the second deal on my G37 coupe (FYI our other car was a G37 convertible). AND…it was simple, fast, and a no BS deal. In fact the whole process almost seemed too easy. Both Marlon and Courtney were professional, helpful and friendly…AND FAST.
In finance Courtney provided a lot of helpful information but was never pushy on trying to sell us anything. Some of the deals she could offer were obviously good, an others she just left up to my wife and I to decide. I am a USAA member and they have decent financing rates which Courtney knew about, and she also told us about 2 other banks that just lowered the rates under what USAA was offering. She is good as what she does!
I could go on and on about service after the deal. Scheduling and completing some of the things we wanted done was handled by Frank who had to spent quite a bit of time to accommodate my schedule, but he did it and every part of the deal and service was met as promised. You can spend a lot of time as I did, or you can learn from my experience, but IOS is worth the drive time it takes to get to them.
Dealers all have different circumstances so actual deals can vary, but they all buy the cars for exactly the same price. IN Getting your own quotes you will easily see who wants your business. I would gladly give an opinion on the deal, but if you get on the internet or call IOS and deal with Marlon, seriously, that is all you will need to do. I fully expect after you deal with him, nobody else will beat him by $200 much less be close to his deal.
PS - Part of signing up on this site requires certification you are not working at a dealership. They can black list the dealer IF found out. I guess you could work around by having a spouse/friend write a review, but I actually think the feedback is actually pretty good and helpful. Also I failed to mention the bad rating IOS had, but I was impressed at their response and that employees are no longer there. It correlates with what I have seen and heard.
PPS - I had included my email but as I read terms of conditions for this site, I cannot do so as they do not allow solicitation of site users. If you deal with Marlon and go in to meet him face to face, you will understand why I say he is the BEST salesperson I have ever dealt with hands down.
