First, I have purchased several vehicles from Tyrone Mazda in the past and was very happy, however the salesman we used in the past no longer worked there. After spending nearly an hour dealing with Mazda in the past and was very happy, however the salesman we used in the past no longer worked there. After spending nearly an hour dealing with Jason, it was evident that this dealership could care less if they sold us a car. He kept coming back with the same deal, only he would re-order the numbers. The dealership never cam off MSRP and was not making a fair offer on my trade, one of the Mazda's I previously bought from them. When we got up to leave they of course tried to get us to stay, a person who refused to identify himself, and went as far as to remove his name tag, began interrupting me or just talking over me. I asked he several time to not interrupt, and when he refused I asked who he was... His response was " I do not work here" and walked away, only to come back and threaten the receptionist with termination if she told us his name. So I took one of every business card and his photo with my phone. I asked the receptionist when the owner would be in, so I could file a complaint about this employee who refused to ID himself, the employee in question asked it I " wanted to go outside and settle this like men!" I left and looked him up on the employee section of the website. He was the sales manager, Seth Brodsky. I suspect they felt threatened by consumers who have done their research, brought the research materiel and were able to refute every sales misdirection(lie) they were telling to make a sale. I left, called another dealer, and ended up buying from them that same night, reaching a far better deal on the exact same vehicle.That dealer bent over back wards to give us a great buying experience (and lots of swag -tshirts, water bottles, ect) I was shocked to learn that there was another couple there who left Tyrone Mazda for being treated poorly the day before and was buying from the other dealer as well. More

I was invited to have an oil change for my Chrysler PT Cruiser by an on air conversation at Tyrone Square Mazda by Dave Fogel. Not only did I get a 'smokin' hot deal for the synthetic oil change I nee Cruiser by an on air conversation at Tyrone Square Mazda by Dave Fogel. Not only did I get a 'smokin' hot deal for the synthetic oil change I needed, but I got to observe what makes your dealership so successful. Most businesses who offer oil changes come at you with a clip board trying to scare you with additional repairs and services you don't need". The feeling is, they think you have the word, "Stupid', across your face. Then, they present you with a bill far above what you anticipated. Tyrone Mazda's service manager treated me with respect and did just what I asked for, AND threw in a car wash. I'm coming back in 3,000 miles. More

I found the reviews somewhat reassuring in that I am not alone in my complaints. I have taken my 2001 Miata to Tyrone Mazda for service for the past 12 years and now am at a loss as to what to do. My car has an intermittent starting problem which they have not been able to repair. While I can accept this, I am upset about several things. First of all, when the car first failed to start it was taken to a AAA repair shop and the ignition wiring and spark plugs were replaced. That did not solve the problem so I took it to Tyrone 4 weeks later. In spite of being advised of the previous work, they repeated it and charged me again for duplicate work. They did perform $1500 worth of work however that failed to solve the problem and the car periodically will not stop. So I made an appointment to bring the car in on a Thursday morning. I told them I could leave the car until the following day. In spite of having scheduled the appointment in the morning, they did not look at the car until the following day when I was scheduled to pick it up. I called to check on the progress, and was told I would receive a call back an hour later. No call. I did not receive any explanation as to why the did not look at the car the day of the appointment. All they could say was they were unable to identify the problem. I am out $1500. The car will not start. But my main complaint is the bill for duplicate unneeded work and the failure to bother even looking at the car on the day of the appointment. This lack of consideration towards a patron of 12 years indicates that good service is not a priority. Unfortunately I clearly will have to buy a new car. I strongly recommend Miatas but obviously can't purchase a new one unless I can locate a responsible service department. More

Tryone Square Mazda has been reported to the Better Business Bureau. Brought my car, a 2004 Mazda Miata in for a 60,000 mile tuneup at 7:30 AM, the time of my appointment, except the staff did not sho Business Bureau. They dropped me off at a Mall before it opened in very cold weather, then I had to keep calling to see how they were doing with my car. They told me it would cost over $3,000 to fix it, so I told them to work on the battery and brakes. I had to keep calling them to see when they would be done and schedule my pickup. The driver was not told where to pick me up causing more problems. The next day my car would not start, after they replaced the battery so I brought it back a 2nd time for additional work, and they got me a rental car, even though I told them I did not want a rental. I returned the rental the next day, but they did not tell Enterprise until 3 days later, so Enterprise said they would issue me a credit card refund. Again my car would not start and parts of a sponge were blowing out of my A/C vent from the detailing. I had to bring my car back a 3rd time, so did not have transportation for almost a week. They had the technician take my car home it seems, so I finally told them to replace the fuel pump and have not had any problems since that time. When I talked to Dave Fogel, the owner over the phone, he was verbally abusive toward me, because I cost him money on the rental he claims. I therefore think it is important for all consumers to be aware of the unethical practices of this dealership! More

I have had experience with both the sales and service aspects of Tyrone Mazda, neither was positive. Actually both were quite terrible. In 2007 I tried to buy a new crossover from their dealership an aspects of Tyrone Mazda, neither was positive. Actually both were quite terrible. In 2007 I tried to buy a new crossover from their dealership and was all but laughed at because my credit score was low as a result of an impending divorce. My credit score had taken a 200 point hit and went from suburb to marginal, as my exwife and I were unable to keep the house afloat. However, I had two trades (almost $15K) to put down and really wanted and needed the new car. After being humiliated there, I easily purchased the same vehicle, but slightly used from a nationally known used car dealer. More recently (September 2010,) I brought my car back to Tyrone Mazda for a tremendous engine noise and lack of power. I had regular servicing there for engine issues, from 2009 till 2010. Being the only Mazda dealer in Saint Petersburg and with a very catchy "Always Fair, Always Square" slogan I tried to give them another chance. Over the last year I have had my car in the service department at Tyrone Mazda for very similar issues, relating to oil consumption and engine noise. I brought it in a half a dozen times to have them basically call it all normal for the model. I was so adamant that this was not normal for any car and I got into a verbal shouting match with one of the service writers there (he has since resigned.) The service manger finally listened to my car himself (July 2010) and said that it was all normal and that I should trust his years of experience working with Mazda. Needless to say that my car suffered major mechanical engine failure from inaccurately adjusted timing and an insufficient oil level (I had a thousand miles on it from its previous oil change.) while I was taking my six year old to school. I reluctantly took the car back to them as the experts for a diagnostic evaluation, and found out that the repairs were to cost $7,500. Thankfully the extended warranty covered the engine repair. However, Tyrone Mazda wanted to charge me an additional thousand dollars for a engine that was not covered by my warranty company, insisting it was superior to the alternative. After discussing it with both the service department at Tyrone Mazda and my warranty company, I found inconsistencies with the Tyrone Mazda's service department’s explanation. I had my car towed to the nationally known used car dealership service center for the completion of the repairs. My car was repaired successfully but not at Tyrone Mazda, but at the same used car dealership I bought it from. Tyrone Mazda didn't take my concerns seriously, and if I did not have my extended warranty I would have had to come up with $7500 on my own. I trusted Tyrone Mazda with the safety of my family and they did not take my multiple complaints seriously endangering us as well as others on the road. I will not make that mistake again and I hope that this review will help others realize that they are not a scrupulous business and your safety is really what is on the line. More
