Mercedes-Benz of Huntington responded

This vehicle was certified and did, in fact, undergo the rigorous Mercedes-Benz Certification process and inspection prior to purchase. A Certification runs for 1 year and up to 100,000 miles. The costs this gentleman incurred were due primarily to the expiration of the Certification warranty at the time repair was requested. Collectibles or not, automobiles are built to be driven and driven regularly. Leaving any vehicle, Mercedes-Benz or other, unattended for long periods of time will cause a slow deterioration of the vehicle that can create problems when attempting to drive it again. In addition to any problems caused with the suspension, rust and corrosion can form on the body of the car, any car, or inside critical components. Gum and varnish can clog fuel systems. Sludge and acids can form in the engine oil. Mildew can grow in the interior. Precautions should be taken before mothballing a car that might only be driven 500 miles in a year regardless of the vehicle's brand or where the car was purchased or serviced.
