Mossy Toyota responded

Mossy Toyota has apologized to our customer for a mistake an employee made on the original price quote over the phone. , we have provided them the original price quote saving them over $200.00.in the cost of the key reprogramming and she continues to be unhappy. Her prior visit regarding the recall requires two visits as the parts are ordered to the specific vehicle, we apologize she had to visit us twice.

While the original service representative, David, was apologetic, he said there was nothing he could do and took quite some time to locate the service manager. The service manager was not at all apologetic, but rather defensive and uncaring. He never offered to honor the quoted price, which is a normal expectation in dealing with any business. As to the first two visits for the recall, we were told after arriving that the parts needed had been used on another vehicle though we had an appointment. We were never informed prior to the appointment that the parts were no longer there, nor were we informed that it could be a two day process. We were only told after being there for some time that we'd have to return another day as they needed to reorder the recalled parts. On both of those occasions, we asked several times for the service manager but was told he could not be located. We have spent several disappointing hours dealing with Mossy Toyota for a couple of very simple issues, and although service reps are friendly and the lobby is stocked with goodies, the rude response of the service manager, if you can find him, and his lack of respect for customers and their time, combined with the complete lack of integrity demonstrated by making recall appointments without needed parts and refusing to honor quoted prices are huge problems that management should address. We will not be doing business with Mossy again.

Mossy Toyota responded

This Vehicle was towed in on 3/21/09 due to a no start condition. Our technician found a 100amp Buss Bar fuse was blown along with another small fuse. Fuses were replaced and vehicle started, however the main warning light was on and we could not clear the codes in the computer. The inverter was shorted out due to a high amount of voltage put through the system. Mr. Aarts was very upset and stated that the tow truck driver must have done this. AAA interviewed Mossy's technician, and they had no problem with our diagnosis, but felt that it was too suspicious that there were jumper cables on the front seat with a burned end. AAA felt that the customer had attempted to jump start the vehicle. USAA interviewed our technician, and denied the claim for the vehicle because the loss was a result of a service provider (the tow company). We have maintained our position that the damage was caused by an outside source, and not a failure of the vehicle.
