EV battery discharges overnight Since December 2024, our EV battery started to discharge 5 to 10% overnight. It does not happen all the time but it loses at least 2%. My level 2 charger shows me how mu our EV battery started to discharge 5 to 10% overnight. It does not happen all the time but it loses at least 2%. My level 2 charger shows me how much kWh it puts back into the EV battery. This is how I came up with the discharge rate. Things got worse after it had to be towed into the dealership with a dead 12v battery that could not be jumped. It was at the dealership for 19 days. They said the rear door antenna ($19.00 part) was waking up the SUV and causing the discharge. The dealership completely ignored the EV battery discharge issue. I bought it back home and after sitting for two days it lost 31% of the battery capacity (kWh 4.28. It is now back at the dealership for further investigation. Final Thoughts: A 31% drop in 2 days is not normal, especially for a plug-in hybrid. The rear door antenna might be a symptom, not the root cause. I will Continue pressing the dealership to treat this as an EV battery/BMS-level concern, not just a 12V or minor module issue. Update. The dealership charged our 4XE to 100%. After being at the dealer ship for 5 days without being moved, it when from 26.7 miles range to 16 miles. The service manager said that the Chrysler engineers said discharging is normal and that I should leave it plugged in when not in use. Keep in mind that the temperature is 69°F at night and 85°F during the day. Ideal temperatures for an EV battery. Not sure what to do next. My wife refuses to drive the car. More
