My Review of Richmond BMW:
Richmond BMW treats my family really well. When I have a minor problem all I have to do is to drive up and tell them what's wrong and usualy it gets fixed right then and there. I've never needed major service. Once, my daughter's (well, it's really mine) 325i developed some clutch judder. I called the service advisor and explained the problem. Even though the problem had resolved itself, transmission bushngs were replaced, just in case. All of the work was covered under warranty.

I understand this dealership underwent a management change about a year ago. Perhaps those who have written negative reviews helped prompt the change, but things certainly have changed since 2004.

My Review of Richmond BMW:
I agree with most posters here.

This was the worst dealership of any kind I've ever been to.

I think they even charge more than the list price for factory parts... I'll never buy a part, or take my car there, ever since I was told "there's a 3 week wait for the oil change you need." Every time I've been there I have been disappointed with their service and the results.

My Review of Richmond BMW:
This is perhaps the worst service department in the United States. I moved around a great deal for work and currently own two BMW's, a 2002 330ci and a 2003 X5 3.0L (my wife). Both cars have been serviced at different dealerships, namely BMW VOB in Maryland, BMW of Arlington and Richmond BMW. Before owning these cars, I owned a 1999 Toyota Camry serviced in Maryland, with a 1995 Honda Accord sedan, serviced by Herson's Honda (awful place) followed by (a bit better) Ourisman's Honda in Bethesda.

I believe very strongly in factory service, perhaps I am stubborn in that way, but I always believed in quality in training. Of the above listed facilities for BMW, Richmond BMW is the absolute worst. VOB seems to get overwhelmed by its business, but still tried its best for me, as far as my experience was concerned.

Richmond BMW will keep your car for several days and do nothing. Then they will tell you they are "unusually busy" and ask to reschedule.

NOTE: Richmond Crown BMW has one (1) loaner car, as they continually refer to "them" as their loaner "cars". Nearly every time I have been there, I have overheard customer complaining that they had reserved a loaner car, been promised a loaner car, etc. but were told "they" (the car(s)) were all "out". At one point, I heard a man exclaim, "So, you only have ONE CAR?!" After my first experience, I never asked again.

but this is the least of their problems.

Service advisors are rude and will do everything they can to avoid you. They never make eye contact if they can help it. The only time they have ever been nice was when their manager, at that time, a gentleman name Mr. Bettley, is present in the room, and that was ONCE.

The techs either don't care or don't know what they are doing on cars. The techs may wear shirts with the BMW logo, but that is all. They appear to only walk around and try to do as little work as possible.

At one point, they took 50 minutes to pick me up from the shopping mall 8 blocks down the street in their "courtesy shuttle".

They replaced some kind of wiring to the tail lamps in the back of our 330, but did not bother to put back any of the bolts (they were literally rolling around in the trunk when i got home), or the covers (black plastic covers) installed correctly in the trunk.

I also encountered another gentleman in the parking lot of Price Costco with a 330i sedan who told me (& showed where) Richmond BMW damaged his car, and insisted it was pre-existing door damage on a 2 month old car. He had to threaten to sue, before they sent the car to their authorized body shop, a place called Fletcher's Auto Body on Mountain Rd. @ Brook Rd., who repaired it and then damaged a different part of the car! He explained how the service manager tried to insist that he "try to file it with your insurance" instead of having them take responsibility.
