My Review Of Sullivan Buick GMC:
I purchased a used car a year ago from Sullivan Buck GMC and it was the absolute best buying experience I've ever had. The atmosphere and no-pressure feel of the entire experience and how professional and helpful Chris Lahey was made the experience truly memorable, and I'd recommend them to anybody.
Almost exactly one year ago, I was shopping for a 2005-2006 Acura RSX Type-S, and the one that caught my eye was on Sullivan Buick GMC's used lot. I was (am) a gearhead/car guy, so I felt I knew my stuff and was rather indifferent towards how the buying experience would be, at the time at least.
On AutoTrader's site, a chat link came up and I was speaking with Chris Lahey. I let him know the situation, that I was interested in the car and had a Tacoma that I still owed a bit on I wanted to trade in towards the purchase. He was very helpful in answering any questions I had, and I did have a few, as this was a purchase I was very nervous and excited about.
Before sunrise on Black Friday 2012, myself and my dad left our house and we drove the five-hour trip to Arlington Heights, and we were there right around the time I had emailed Chris we would be there. He was busy for about just about 10 minutes after we got there, so my dad and myself waited on the showroom floor. Just by looking around I already liked the atmosphere of the place.
When we met Chris, we were greeted and he had the car out back and invited us to have a seat while he pulled it around. We then stood outside in the pretty chilly weather for a few minutes while Chris went over the car with myself and my dad, and everything looked to be in order on the car. We took the test drive (myself and my dad) and everything was as I had expected it to be.
When we brought the car back, I had requested that the car be put on a lift in the service department so I could just take a thorough look at the underside of the car. I thought this might have been a bit of a stretch, but Chris happily obliged. I was able to inspect the car bumper-to-bumper, and everything was in great condition.
After I was done with looking at the car we discussed the trade-in, and they took the instant trade-in offer we got through AutoTrader. Even though some stuff had to be cleared with Toyota Financial Serivces for trading the Tacoma in, Chris took care of all of it and laid everything out for us in plain English, and the entire time we never felt pressured or stressed about anything. We were also informed that the RSX had some work done before it was put on the lot, notably a clutch replacement, which was all reassuring.
When we were all squared away and the papers were signed, we waited in the customer lounge while the car was prepared for delivery. I continued to take note of the overall nice atmosphere of the dealership. When everything was finalized, we said goodbye and drove home in the Acura.
I cannot exaggerate how wonderful the buying experience was. Sullivan Buick GMC is the benchmark by which I will judge all car purchases I may make in the future and if I didn't live almost 300 miles away, I would not hesitate at all to buy from there again.
