"Disappointing Service Experience"
I took my Scion in because the engine check light was on and the engine was running rough.
I was advised that it was necessary to do diagnostic test that would cost $60. $60 and 2 hours later I was advise that the problem was excessive carbon build up and that a $300 "engine clean/de carbon" would be required which I scheduled for the following day.
However on the way home I stopped at Advanced Auto Parts,. They did a 30 second diagnostic for free and advised that the problem was a faulty ignition coil. A new coil ($78) and 5 minutes later the car was running perfectly and the engine check light was no longer on.
How can the dealership get it so wrong? and that after charging a $60 diagnostic fee.
