No straightforward pricing discussion when using internet sales. Vague and unclear responses to inquiries. Not helpful when asking for further specific car information. Needed to "talk to manager" to conf sales. Vague and unclear responses to inquiries. Not helpful when asking for further specific car information. Needed to "talk to manager" to confirm any quotes. This is ridiculous for an internet sales department. More
Went to cars.com and located the vehicle that I wanted which was located on their lot. I had already done my homework so I just needed confirmation that the vehicle they listed was really there and we wer which was located on their lot. I had already done my homework so I just needed confirmation that the vehicle they listed was really there and we were prepared to take it home that day. I called to ask if the vehicle was there and the first person I spoke to insisted I make an "appointment". I was a little frustrated that I needed to do that so I made it for Sunday, but made sure he understood that we had a very busy schedule and may not make it up. If the car was there, great, if not, we understood the risk. My husband called Friday afternoon to make sure the vehicle was still there and that we were coming up Saturday morning (the dealership is an hour north of us). The salesperson, Paria, insisted once again we schedule an appointment for 11:30am. Friday evening she calls back and says we need to put down $500 to ensure the car will be there Saturday morning. Why would we put down money on a car we haven't even seen yet? My husband declines and says if you sell it then let us know before we come up. Saturday morning we get a call reminding us of our 11:30am appointment. We take it to mean that the car is still there. We go at 11am so that we can take a look at it without the sales person hounding us. We can't find the car and finally call Paria. She comes out and says, "I'm sorry. We sold it yesterday. That's why I called and told your husband to put down $500." I explained to her that we got a call this morning reminding us of the appointment and we should have been told at that time the car was sold. She said,"I'm sorry you came all that way, but I can show you some other cars." On our way home I was fuming mad so I called and asked to speak to a manager and I get Tony. I explained my frustration and he says the car was sold late Friday night and had not been updated in their records yet. If that were the case, then how did Paria know it was sold? We purchased the exact same make and model I wanted from Toyota of Olympia and had a much favorable experience. More
The buying process was WAY too long, due to literally SIX trips between the salesman and the sales manager to broker the deal. I almost walked twice, but FIVE hours from when I first stepped onto the lot, I trips between the salesman and the sales manager to broker the deal. I almost walked twice, but FIVE hours from when I first stepped onto the lot, I drove off with my new 4Runner, with a reasonably good deal struck. As for service, they are very friendly and reasonably prompt, though they did lose a skid plate of mine during an oil change (replaced for free), and once forgot to put the oil drain plug back in after another change! (The slick in my garage tipped me off) Once again, fixed promptly but I would have preferred it done right the first time!<br>My advice-- shop them, as well as other Toyota dealers, before buying. If they can get you the right deal without too much back and forth, buy it from them! If they play too many games, walk! (And mean it!) More
