My Review of Toyota of Nashua:
Negotiated a very good price with their inet saleperson (mainly by citing quotes from Westborough and Acton Toyota in Mass). Made it very clear I didn't want surprises and wanted a firm "out the door" all inclusive price. Salesperson consulted with manager, and came back with a very good price.
Called again late that afternoon, to confirm price and get details of car I'd forgot to write down before. She checked inventory and said they had 8 in stock they'd sell for the quote price, in the colors I wanted.
Went down the following day to get the car. Saleman (not the inet one who was not there that day) did the whole sleezy salesman routine, went to managers office and came back with a price $330 higher than I'd been quoted. I explained we had already agreed on the price and didn't need all the closing-room dramatics, but he said it was because the car they'd quoted on wasn't there anymore, and the only ones they had left had more options hence the higher price. Seemed odd they could have sold every base model in stock since the day before, so I told them it was smelling a bit like bait-and-switch and I wanted a car at the promised price.
The inched down on price everytime I started to leave, but by the time they made what I felt was an acceptable offer (still higher than the promised price) we were so totally sick of the place that we decided we simply didn't want to buy a car from them at any price, let alone give them a chance to spring any more suprises.
So don't believe anything they tell you over the phone, and be ready for last minute surprises should you consider buying a car from them. The irony about the whole mess was that we had gotten similar price quotes from several other dealers, and chose to go to them because they had the largest inventory, and hence, we thought, the best chance of finding just what we wanted.
