My Review of Universal Hyundai:
Beware of Universal Nissan in Orlando! We have a 2004 Nissan Murano and the lease was due to expire at the end of the month. Since the vehicle has such low miles, is in great condition and the buyout price was very reasonable, we decided to purchase the vehicle.

Over the past few weeks, I spoke with Nissan Motor Acceptance to verify the buyout price and the $150 fee to buy the vehicle at the end of the lease. They told me that I would need to contact a dealer to get the tax and any additional fees. I called Universal Nissan twice to ask if they could tell me if there were any additional fees, over and above tax, to finalize the purchase and if they could give me the "out the door" price. The first time I called, I asked if the buyout price, tax and the $150 fee was all I needed to account for and was told "yes".

The second time I called, one of the finance managers told me that I needed to finalize the deal with Nissan Motor Acceptance, since I was paying cash for the vehicle. I told him that was not was Nissan Motor Acceptance told me, so I decided to call them and verify. Nissan Motor Acceptance told me that I had to go through a dealer and that they could not finalize the purchase directly.

Yesterday (3/21/08) we went to Universal Nissan to finalize the purchase of the Murano. We sat down with one of their finance managers, Dea, and went through Universal Nissan’s numbers. There was a fee of $599 that Dea referred to as a "dealer fee" for processing the paper work and he said that "every dealer will charge you a fee to do this". I was upset as I called Universal Nissan twice and no one ever once mentioned this fee, even when I specifically asked. I told Dea that I would pay the fee only if it was specifically spelled out in the lease I signed and then requested that he pull a copy of my lease for review. Next, I was told "if you go to Reed Motors (Nissan dealer in Orlando) they will charge you a $799 fee" and "we do not make any money off of this transaction". After requesting to see a copy of my lease two more times and no one ever producing it, I said that I am not doing this today as the numbers are not correct.

Today (3/22/08) I called Reed Motors in Orlando and asked to speak with their leasing consultant. Dwayne answered my call and I explained to him what I was planning to do. He took my lease number, called Nissan for the buyout price and provided me with their "out the door" price that was about $777 less than Universal Nissan. I was quite surprised! Dwayne then ran down the charges and said that Reed Motors does not charge a "dealer fee" as Universal Nissan had told me. Reed Motors tax and tag numbers were also lower than those given to me by Universal Nissan.

Two hours later we sat down with Dwayne at Reed Motors and finalized the purchase of the vehicle at the "out the door" price promised over the phone. Dwayne and his finance manager, Michael, were very helpful, nice and provided exceptional service.

Universal Nissan lied to me on the phone and in my face, while trying to take me for an extra $777 dollars. Universal Nissan is not trustworthy and will lie or dodge the subject in order to take your money. I recommend you try out Reed Motors in Orlando if you are looking for some, nice, honest people. I was never pressured to buy another vehicle or even an extended warranty and was treated as if I were purchasing a new vehicle right off the lot. Great experience!

Reason for Visit: Sales

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Universal Hyundai:
I recently had the absolute worst and most dishonest sales process I've ever experienced at this dealership. I test drove a vehicle two times at this dealer. I negotiated a price, which included base price and dealer fees plus tax and tags. The terms negotiated with the salesperson on the phone were absolutely clear. He actually stated that "we'll only make $100 on this car". When I went down to do the paperwork and hand over a check, the terms of the deal were suddenly withdrawn. The salesperson and then the manager said that I "must have misunderstood". They clearly lied to me to get me down to the dealership in person so that they could talk the price up.

They DID NOT HONOR THEIR COMMITMENT, THEN THEY FLAT OUT LIED ABOUT WHAT THEY SAID ON THE PHONE. THEY EVEN USED THE "WE ONLY MAKE $100 ON THIS CAR" LINE AGAIN WHEN THEY RENEGED ON THEIR COMMMITMENT.

Funny thing is that I was so confident about the deal, I finalized the paperwork on the car I was driving before heading down to pick up the car. I ended up having to rent a car that day, and recounted the story to the rental car agent. What she said next was incredible. She said "I'll bet it was Universal Nissan, wasn't it?". I was floored. Shame on me.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALER. I should have checked this site first. I am going go blog about this experience, including links to this site. I encourage others (and there are no doubt many) with similar experience to contact me.

Reason for Visit: Service

I recommend this dealer: No

My Review of Universal Hyundai:
I purchased a Nissan 350Z from this dealership and have since changed to another dealer because this dealer gave me the worst service I have ever received.

First, my car came out of alignment and I took it in to get it taken care of. They aligned it to the wrong spec and caused serious tire wear because of this.

Second, my car consumes excessive oil. I dealt with this dealer for 9000 miles of consumption tests. During this period all they did was to check the oil and document the loss and top it off. All I kept hearing was that they did not believe me and that oil consumption was normal for cars. Obviously they don't know too much. The worst part is that on more than one occasion they flat out lied about the consumption rate and therefore falsified the documentation. They would record down 1/3 of a quart and it was actually 3/4. Normally they would fill it with more than they reported to make me think they were right. The last time, they screwed up and forgot to fill with 3/4 while reporting 1/3. I checked it the next morning and it was down 1/2 of quart. After this, I decided to change and try to find a trusting dealer.

I have written a letter to the owner, which I have heard absolutely nothing back from and I also filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against this dealership.

STAY AWAY FROM UNIVERSAL NISSAN/HYUNDAI in Orlando, FL.
