They had to do there diagnostics for the warranty to know what the issue was. Warranty denied, so of course I'm forced to have to pay for the diagnostics. $1300! Show up to pick up the car and it wasn't together all the way. Drove over 2 and half hours pulling a car dolly to show up with the car in worse condition then when we dropped it off. Note in the window from the technician saying cars in pieces see technician. Instantly not happy. Go inside pay my bill and ask why isn't it together all the way like when it was dropped off? They say, Oh we're doing you a favor not putting it back together all the way. Not happy... I say, So I have to wait for you to put the car back together completely and waste more of my time waiting and you want me to pay full price? They say, Oh we can put it back together. I say no way. Your done touching the car I'm not waiting I'll do it myself. I'm a diesel technician and have been working on vehicles and anything with a engine for over 40 years. The only reason the car is there is for warranty to cover it. The warranty was denied. I paid the diagnostics and labor fees. Not happy of course since the car was not put back together all the way like when it showed up. The Intake was left off of it and so was one of intercooler hoses. Left wide open for the dust to get in. They expected me to want to tow a vehicle on a car dolly over 2 and half hours with the intake and intercooler hose off of it. Id expect for everything to be put back on it. It rains quite often and the roads are usually wet. I put the car back together right there in the parking lot noticed more stuff broken from them taking it apart for diagnostics. Please don't do people a favor and leave there car in pieces and expect them not to be upset and not want to wait. And have to pay full price for shoty diagnostic work. Now I have to fix more broken connectors and plastic pieces after I replace the turbo and everything else that might be needed. Be nice if warranty actually was a warranty. Not this dealerships warranty a bought added on warranty. It would be great if you gave a vehicle to someone in a certain condition it would be in the same condition when you picked it up. Now the car will get repaired by me and get better parts put on it for way cheaper then what they wanted to repair the vehicle for. Absolutely ridiculous! More
In July 2020, my husband and I purchased a certified pre-owned 2014 Passat TDI SEL with 65,000 miles from a VW dealership, maintaining it diligently until switching to VW of Kirkland in 2023. On April 3 pre-owned 2014 Passat TDI SEL with 65,000 miles from a VW dealership, maintaining it diligently until switching to VW of Kirkland in 2023. On April 3rd, 2025, the car became inoperable, and after towing it to the dealership, we learned it needed a timing belt replacement. Shockingly, we were later informed it required a new cylinder head—almost the cost of a new engine. At our last maintenance in late January 2025, VW of Kirkland assured us the vehicle was in excellent condition, and all maintenance was performed. We trusted our service representative who was always kind and helpful, to informing us of any maintenance required. This situation is unacceptable. How is it that our Certified pre-owned Passat, which has been diligently maintained since its purchase at 65,000 miles, is now inoperable at a little less than 140,000 when it was serviced less than 3 months ago at which point we were told we had completed all recommended service? We are now forced to buy a new vehicle to replace our well-maintained Passat, well before we should have to despite our insurance company telling us that the dealership should have informed us of this needed maintenance! It's certainly confusing that our 2011 TOYOTA Scion Xd with 156,000 miles on it has, somehow, outlasted our certified-preowned Passat--a car well known for lasting 400,000 - 500,000 miles and backed by the supposed reliability and longevity of VW vehicles. This is a dealership that will shake your hand at the end of a deal and say thank you, we were slow today and our boss will be happy when we didn’t get a deal, and felt pressured but as long as their happy I of a deal and say thank you, we were slow today and our boss will be happy when we didn’t get a deal, and felt pressured but as long as their happy I guess. I was asked to bring in a spare key ($500 is savings for them) but when I brought in the key and told them the safety cover for me vehicle is missing they said your SOL.. I drove out of my way for them but seems like again I don’t matter. I won’t be coming back More
