We had to wait for well over an hour to have our meeting with the finance dept even though we paid with a bank check. As our finance meeting began Michael was cordial and professional. About half way throug with the finance dept even though we paid with a bank check. As our finance meeting began Michael was cordial and professional. About half way through the meeting he asked if we wanted the vehicle warranty. We declined. He again stated the merits of the program and we declined it again. At that point he said his computer screen froze and he would need a mgr override to fix/unfreeze the computer screen. He stepped out and his mgr arrived. She asked two times if we wanted the warranty and we said no both times. She asked again, now appearing to be rather annoyed we continued to decline the warranty program and she was told in no uncertain terms we’ve had these types of plans in the past and haven’t found them to be of value. At that point she finally got the message and said the computer was now fixed, stood up and left. Michael returned to his office and concluded the meeting. It needs to be noted based on where I was seated in the room the computer screen never appeared to be frozen and while the mgr sat at Michael’s desk facing the screen she never did anything that gave even the slightest impression she fixed anything! Upon reflection, I would have to say the sales component of our experience was excellent. However the finance dept component was very unprofessional and rather unscrupulous. We won’t be shy about sharing that portion of our experience with family/friends who ask us about our experience at Camelback Toyota. Dealership mgt needs to clean up how the finance dept deals with its clients with regard to the conversation re the vehicle warranty. No one needs to be asked 5 times if they want a warranty. If the warranty program was that valuable its merits would likely sell itself. More

Let me begin my comments by saying that my husband, my mother, and I shopped for a car for my mother, very deliberately. We determined her needs her desires, and her budget. Once that was established, we mother, and I shopped for a car for my mother, very deliberately. We determined her needs her desires, and her budget. Once that was established, we went to Camelback Toyota as she expressed a preference for the Toyota product, specifically The Highlander. Ashton was a great salesman. He was respectful, accommodating, Knowledgeable about the product and polite. He was a joy to work with. Our troubles began when we were waiting to meet with the finance department. We were paying cash for this car and questioned why we needed to meet with finance. However, we patiently waited well over an hour to meet with Michael. Michael was professional and courteous. As I’m sure is part of your process he began to try to upsell us to an extended warranty. As I have had my own business in the past, I understand and appreciate the need to maximize revenue at every possible turn. I expected this. Michael made his first pitch and we rejected it. He made a second pitch based on different information and we rejected it. He then went into what I can only describe as an absurd pantomime of pretending his computer was frozen , and that he needed a management, override and help with this computer. He exited the room and then came the woman who I’m sure is the senior finance manager. As an aside when she entered, I complemented her on the rather glorious decor in her office. She made a point to assert how much she worked hard for it. I thought this was ridiculous. The senior finance manager started to amp up the tactics. At this point, she was trying to use techniques that I would describe as unscrupulous. She tried to imply that there may be something wrong with the car as it wasn’t “Certified “. She mentioned this several times. She Started talking about computers and chips and the like. Again we rejected the offer. She continued with the same line of pitch. I made it clear that my husband and I had had experience with these warranties in the past, and did not find them to have value and rejected it again. She continued to press further. At this point, I was insulted for my mother as the manager was trying to play us for fools with theatrics and angry that this manager was attempting to coerce my mother to purchase a warranty, she neither needed nor could afford. I became obviously annoyed, and had to raise my voice to shut her down. This is unacceptable. I can’t believe that we are the only customers in which this happened. That your company has attempted through fear, intimidation and manipulation to force A senior citizen, or another member of the vulnerable population to purchase Something they don’t desire nor need. I am angry enough that I am considering writing a letter to the appropriate legal authorities of the state of Arizona. More
