Update: Mr Myers outright lied to me. He told me I could return the car but when I tried the office manager would not take it back. Now Mr. Myers will not answer my phone calls. Because he knew he lied. Outrageous.

Good afternoon, AT. I'm sorry that your car buying experience wasn't what you expected. I certainly respect you and your opinion. However, I done extensive research on your transaction and I am grateful that you are allowing me a public forum to share the rest of the story. The Ford Escape that you purchased from us was clearly marked as a 2013 model on the website, the window sticker, the buyers guide (also on the front window) and the key tag. Before you agreed to purchase the Escape, you asked to see a vehicle history report on the vehicle which we were happy to provide you and it also said 2013. In addition, all of the many forms that you signed said 2013 including the warranty form that we added per your request. After you signed all of the paperwork, we used the intercom to welcome you into the Frank Myers Family and congratulated you on the purchase of your 2013 Ford Escape. When we spoke on the phone about your unhappiness, you told me that your salesperson had lied to you about the year of the car you bought and told you it was a 2016 instead of a 2013. You then told me that you loved the vehicle and would like to keep it BUT you didn't know why it was so much more expensive than the ones you saw at other dealerships. After I attempted to explain "why", you then told me how Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds had the value considerably less than what you paid. It seemed to me that you wanted to negotiate the price AFTER you had already purchased your car and, when you didn't receive the answer you wanted to hear, that is when you said wanted your money back. I told you that I wanted you to be happy and would refund your money IF we had misrepresented the year. After spending a couple of hours reviewing your paperwork and the timeline of your transaction, I have come to the conclusion that we did not misrepresent the year of the 2013 Ford Escape you purchased. One of the many deciding factors for me, other than both the vehicle and all of the paperwork clearly said 2013 Ford Escape, was that your car insurance agent was called and this car was added to your policy while you were still at the dealership. We received your insurance binder saying "2013 Ford Escape" not a 2016 and I spoke with someone at your insurance agency who said they would have required speaking with you before adding the vehicle that you bought to your policy. A few other things to clarify: 1) No one can be fooled by our positive reviews because they are actual reviews from real customers. The Myers family has been serving happy customers in this community for over 100 years. The thousands of positive reviews we have and the A+ we have with the Better Business Bureau reflect that. When we send text messages to our customers asking for reviews, it is simply a request. Customers can always say "no" if they don't want to or leave a bad review if they had a bad experience. In fact, that is what we recommend. We believe in complete transparency. 2) The review you left on Google that you said is not there...is there. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't prove we are shady. We have zero control on Google and a dealership can't remove reviews. 3) I am not avoiding your call. I simply haven't received any phone calls from you since the last time we spoke. In closing, all of the available information shows that the year of the car you purchased was not misrepresented by anyone or anything at the dealership. Based on your comments when I spoke to you, you went price shopping after your purchase and felt that you paid more than you should have. I feel that makes this a classic case of buyers remorse and it makes me sad that you have decided to create this completely false narrative to support your argument. With all of this being said, we still don't want you driving a car that you hate so please reach out if you would like to trade it for something you are happier with, please call direct at 336-354-4083. Thank you for your time.

AT responded

Sir, I did leave you a voicemail. You have not returned my call. You also clearly stated that if I felt misrepresented, which I assured you I had, that I could return the car that day. You even said there would be no issue since it was a debit card transaction. You assured me I could leave with my old vehicle that day. Saturday. But when I arrived, the manager kept trying to get me to keep the car. After I told him repeatedly I did not want it he continued to berate and haggle me. Now he will not honor your word and neither will you apparently. I was mislead, I have my Google history to prove it. Not just mine, but also my fiance's. And I repeatedly mentioned to the man in the office the issues I had found online with 2016 models. No one ever corrected me verbally and told me it was infact a 2013. I have witnesses. I was instead given a better warranty. I readily admit it was dumb on my part not to look at the year of the car, but that was the absolute last part I expected to be deceived about. Shame on you for telling me I could return the car and leave with my old car when you had no intention of honoring your word.

AT responded

Also I clearly stated to you that I do believe it was an honest mistake on the part of the salesperson when she said 2016. I never said she lied to me. But I did say I was never corrected when I kept going on about issues with the 2016 model, or when I told them I compared this car in the dealership with other 2016 models at other dealerships and found that your pricing was a smidge higher but worth it for the warranty. 50% Higher is not a smidge higher. I never would have ever considered that a smidge higher if I had known it was a 2013 model I would have run out of your establishment because I don't like being deceived or ripped off. If this was not trickery, why was I not given my insurance paperwork there that was sent to me there? Why did y'all keep it? So I wouldn't notice until I got home. You succeeded in ripping off a mother and full time honor student.

AT responded

And furthermore, I never mentioned the Kelly blue book value until you originally asked me if I would like to exchange it for a different car from your dealership. I asked you if all your cars were marked so high above their values and if so I did not want one. That is when you told me you want your customers to be happy and that I could return the vehicle and get my old car and my money back. That day. Which was an outright lie.
