Streetside Classics - Atlanta responded

We’re very sorry to hear about the issues you detailed in your review, and sincerely wish we would’ve heard from you sooner than six months after you purchased this truck. This negative review is the first correspondence of any kind that we’ve received from you since the truck was purchased in November of 2017. Any classic vehicle that has been inactive since the winter is subject to seepage, unfortunately this is one of the realities of classic car ownership. You briefly mentioned that the vehicle might have also leaked while it was transported, but when we contacted the shipper we weren’t able to find a report of that related to the transport. That certainly doesn’t refute your claim, but because so much time has passed since your purchase, we weren’t able to corroborate anything. With that being said, it’s definitely possible that when the truck was transported, the angle that it was parked on for the long trip from Georgia to Massachusetts might have caused sloshing that breached the cork gasket on the oil pan, which is something that has occurred in the past. Although this truck had a crate motor, it wasn’t brand new, and even if it was, it can be compared to that of a modern car. These drive trains are much more rudimentary, and seepage/leaking can occur. We would’ve been happy to discuss any of this once you received your vehicle, but we were not contacted by either you or your shipper with any such report. Also, our records show that before the truck was purchased, we seem to have had more contact with your relatives than with you sir, so this may be a case of expectations not being properly set, or information/expectations being lost in transfer from us, to your family members, and ultimately to you. We never make any unequivocal claims or guarantees on how a 32 year old vehicle may or may not perform in the future, and we would certainly never say that your driveway will always be spotless. These are simply impossible claims to have in this industry, and we would never feel the need to resort to hyperbole such as this. If you look at our pictures on our ad as well (still up at www.streetsideclassics.com under “Past Sales”), you’ll see that the undercarriage isn’t spotless, and our narrative makes no such claims to that either. Finally, our AS-IS/No Warranty was endorsed but you in multiple areas sir, where we also spell out potential risks and once again mention the right to inspect before purchase, or the right to voluntarily waive that opportunity. Even with all of that being said, and even with the entire sales process slowed down to a crawl (which we’re always happy to do) before finalization, the odds of us accurately predicting that the truck would leak or not leak in your garage are impossible. But I bet if you had asked us directly “If I put this truck up for the winter and don’t drain fluids from components, will it leak?”, all of us to-a-man would say that it likely would. We didn’t build this truck, we represent it as it sits to the best of our experienced knowledge before it sells, and answer any and all questions the buyer has before and after the sale is finalized. To be blunt, we didn’t hear from you much during the sale sir, and haven’t heard from you since 11/11/17 when the sale closed. Otherwise, we might have tried to help you seek more information, or possibly even financial remedy. Classic cars will eventually require maintenance down the road, and it sounds like this is what is occurring now. Other than these leaks you mentioned, it certainly sounded like you loved the truck at the time of purchase, and I am confident that once these issues are resolved, you’ll feel the same again. In the meantime, if you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly, and we will do all that we can to assist. We are a highly rated and reviewed dealership because we genuinely care about our customers, and we want to be able to help when we can. Thank you again for your business, enjoy that beautiful K-10.
