Car had 137 miles from Manager driving it. Sales contract had 114 miles, the mileage disclosure statement said 135 but when we started home it had over 137 miles. I asked and they refused several times to remove the $1999 Honda Protection Plan. The Salesman Tony A. and Manager Jody D. both said, “Plan was not negotiable and we couldn’t buy the car if we did not pay for it”. That is not legal! The FTC require dealers to obtain consumers’ express, informed consent for charges, prohibit the sale of any add-on product or service that confers no benefit to the consumer. They would not negotiate at all. The Protection Plan: - 4 wheel lock nuts - 1 trunk mat - Interior/Exterior Diamond sealant? - Oil changes we could not use living 1 1/2 hours away. Non Honda average reviews have them at 3.1 out of 5 Stars. That a 62% rating people. Yelp is even worse: 2 Stars out of 5. That’s 40%! I wish I had checked ratings more than I did, and I so wish they did not have the color car my wife wanted! Tony fumbled about showing us the car. He did program my wife’s phone and some door lock preferences? He could not program my phone. Then we were abruptly interrupted to sign papers and pay. No more instructions and no test drive until after papers were signed. Most importantly, neither my wife or I were able to test drive the car. Moreover, the 2023 Hybrid Accord is not a just get in and drive car like a non hybrid car. Once in front of Michael Duncan who was in charge of signing everything and taking our check for the inflated purchase price, he also tried to sell more maintenance and endless insurance products but he was honest about what was optional and we were able to deflect more expensive add ons. Once we were finished with Michael, Tony tried to further explain the car in the dark in front of the dealership well past 9pm. Most instruction consisted of him scrolling left and right on the infotainment screen trying to find settings. When he was finished, I had to ask for directions for as many backroads as possible for our drive home. Tony then just left us in the dark in front of the dealership saying “call me if she doesn’t like it and we’ll get her something else.” Less than 10 hours later I called Tony at 7:55 am the next morning asking to do just that. He texted me back over 4 hours later (I guess after they made sure our check had cleared) and said, “Spoke with my manager and he can’t unwind the deal .. to trade for the (Accord) Ex would be an even swap” “ I am with a customer right now”. Just so everyone knows, an Accord Ex is $31,000 out the door. What a gratious offer? We just paid $37,400 the night before! Now that’s Special isn’t it? Now just let that sink in for anyone remotely considering doing business with Apple Tree Honda! I have all texts saved, all of this sent to the FTC as well as the NCDOJ (That’s the North Carolina Department of Justice). More consumers are going to have to stand up for themselves and others when these business practices are found out. I then tried to speak with Matt S... the General Sales Manager. Receptionist would not give me his number, his email, but she did transfer me to his full voicemail...never got to speak with him either. Nice business model they have at Apple Tree Honda. I filed a claim with FTC report #160300154 on June 1, 2023 at 1:46am and with NCDOJ June 2, 2023 at 1:31pm. Consumers must have the resolve and find the resources in the law to protect how business should be done in North Carolina. Just because it happens a lot of the time doesn’t mean it is legal, ethical or moral. They have classes you can take if you need to know the difference Apple Tree Honda! More
I was on a road trip with my husband. Both of us are 75+. We could not get the fiob to open our trunk. We pulled into the service bay and were informed they were too busy to help us. When we returned home, our local dealership helped us with a 5 minute phone call to unlock the valet switch. Whoever helped us at your dealership, either did not know about valet switch or didn’t want to be bothered with us. I was very disappointed with our interaction with the service department at your dealership. More
The service is always great. I would like to buy another Honda for this reason. Sadly, their used car inventory is low but that does not seem to be their fault. I would like to buy another Honda for this reason. Sadly, their used car inventory is low but that does not seem to be their fault. More
I had a hold deposit on a used vehicle with intent of buying today. Before we could get to the dealership this morning - (our salesman was to arrive at 9 a.m.) we Received a text from Salesman at 9:01 t buying today. Before we could get to the dealership this morning - (our salesman was to arrive at 9 a.m.) we Received a text from Salesman at 9:01 that the care was sold and my deposit would be mailed to me. They sold the car yesterday obviously so my hold deposit was worthless. I guess we should have been there waiting on salesman to arrive. Will never return to Appletree. This would have been our 4th car purchased from them. Nasty! More
I can not say enough good things about Appletree Honda. Betsy Woods is THE BEST!!! I had been looking for a Honda Accord for a couple of months. I live in Phenix City, AL and do lots of traveling to South Betsy Woods is THE BEST!!! I had been looking for a Honda Accord for a couple of months. I live in Phenix City, AL and do lots of traveling to South Carolina. I had tried several dealerships in a couple of states, but none seemed interested in even selling me a vehicle. Betsy not only sell me a car, but she stayed in constant contact with me my entire trip up, helping me get paperwork done before my arrival and had the car detailed and ready to go. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in. The process was informative, friendly, and timely. Thanks to everyone at Appletree Honda More

So I've never bought a car here, but I used to work with the Finance Director Chris Lewis at another WNC dealership some years ago where he was the New Car Sales Manager. Chris has decades of automotive experience and was one of my favorite managers to work with in the car business. He's always a no nonsense straight shooter, a certified good 'ol boy, and always strives to exceed customer expectations. He's one of two people I'd pick in WNC to spin my paper (as they say), and of course you can't go wrong with a Honda. I mean...they're Hondas. Signed, A xxxx Yankee Andrew Karsen More
Basically every experience I’ve had at this dealership has been a joke. I went to purchase a brand new car and ended up working with Betsy. While she wasn’t horrible she definitely had no knowledge about has been a joke. I went to purchase a brand new car and ended up working with Betsy. While she wasn’t horrible she definitely had no knowledge about the Hondas and what all the vehicles offer. She was more interested in making a sale than making sure I was happy. Due to them being out of stock I had to order a car. Now I know when you order a car you can choose the colors and whatnot but she only gave me the option to choose exterior and acted like choosing more wasn’t even an option. When my car arrived I gave it a quick walk around and noticed on my trunk some discoloration in the paint and obviously wanted it fixed. Was told that would be no issue. Paperwork was done, pictures were done, etc. never received a call to fix the issue. Reached out to Betsy who basically told me she was busy working on deals and would get back to me when she was done. Did hear back and she claimed she had got it worked out and I should be receiving a call. Again that didn’t happen. Finally called service dept and was told they had no record of paperwork being done oor pictures taken of the issue and I needed to bring my car back in for that part to be done. Had that done and worked with Brenda who was great. The discoloration was done and everything looks great. But then I was due for my first oil change. Made an appointment for first thing Saturday am. Arrived and place was already slammed. Lady that took my info never gave her name or anything. I did make the mistake of taking my keys with me and had to bring them back and handed them over to a man wearing a nice shirt who was super nice. 3hrs later hadn’t heard anything about my car. Proceeded to ask Melissa Orr if she could give an update and she got an extremely rude attitude saying that I needed to be speaking with whoever helped me when I first came in. Asking who it was and was extremely agitated. After this experience with Melissa and then plus the lack of care from Betsy who was only interested in selling cars and not her actual customers, I do NOT plan on coming back. I regret purchasing a car from here and will not recommend it to anyone. I also want to add that while waiting on my oil change my boyfriend and I were walking around lot to pass time. We were looking at a car when a salesman came out and asked if we had any questions. After asking that he said the car was sold and immediately drove it off the lot. Whether this was his intention or not I felt like he thought we were staying at one of the nearby motels and didn’t want us walking around. I told him we were waiting on my car to be serviced but his reaction made me feel as though he didn’t believe me. Honestly more than half of the staff here is unprofessional and rude. Do better. I should also add that after waiting 3hrs on oil change my oil notification was not reset and I had to do it myself. More
