My sister leasing a car and during the beginning it was seen that she needed to have a co-signer because her credit rating was not good. They knew this up front, but she had no idea that the “approximate m seen that she needed to have a co-signer because her credit rating was not good. They knew this up front, but she had no idea that the “approximate monthly” would be 650. Ok, enter mei have a 770 credit score so that would help. We go to sign paperwork and payment is 870. Woahhh. Big difference. The salesperson said I had no idea. We couldn’t go through at that payment. She just kept saying I don’t know anything about finance! I was a realtor for 30 years, and I sold many homes, I didn’t underwrite mortgages, but I certainly understood the mechanics of lending. As a salesperson she surely knew that if purchaser had poor credit , even with a good co-signer payment was not coming in anywhere near the “optimal” monthly tier 1 !! So many hours later after jostling positions and trying different things the finance guy got it down to 730. Ok. But the salesperson should have never let us think it would be around 650. Apparently this is a marketing ploy for most dealerships. My niece went through same torture at Chevy. More
