Audi Hoffman Estates responded

Vlad, When you made the appointment with Mike, he told you even then that there would be a charge for us to look at your vehicle and attempt to remove the component protection concern that you diagnosed on your own. When you brought your vehicle in it was discussed again and even had the estimate for the $178.00 printed up on the repair order that you signed and agreed to before we even touched your car. All of this was done based on your diagnosis of the vehicle and wanting us to try and fix it for you, which means that our Shop Foreman spent time attempting to do the repair that you asked us to do. When that was unsuccessful and we could not recode whatever module had failed in your vehicle is when we called and let you know there would be diagnosis time involved to figure out what was really wrong with the car. You declined the diagnosis and were told to pick up your vehicle at which point all we asked was that you pay for the agreed upon dollar amount that you signed for up front when you brought your vehicle in. Just because we were unable to perform a repair based on your diagnosis does not mean that we did not spend time working on your vehicle, in fact our Shop Foreman spent over an hour and a half working on your vehicle, but we still only charged you for the one hour we initially agreed upon. It would be unfair to the employees involved in working on your vehicle to not get paid for doing their jobs which is exactly what would have happened to the tech and Mike the Service Consultant if we did not charge you for the upfront agreed upon price that you signed for. I’m sure you would not like to go to work and spend time there and not get paid for it either; no one on this planet would like that. After you flat out refused to pay your bill is when I informed you that we would not release your vehicle without payment. You were the one who decided to call the police and tell them that you had not authorized any money for us to look at the vehicle, and on a side note you also told me before they showed up that it was not even your signature on the repair order, but once I showed the paperwork to the police it was determined that you actually did sign for the labor time to work on your vehicle and they told you the same thing that we did, that you are responsible for the time we spent looking at your vehicle and that you had to pay your bill. It was not my intention to be rude, but when someone is not really being truthful in an attempt to avoid having to pay for something that was agreed upon; I can understand why you may misinterpreted my stance and our feelings in the matter as being rude, but in reality all we wanted was to be fairly paid for the services provided. It is at this time that we believe that we may not be the best provider for you and your occasional service needs.
