Thank you for your feedback here on Dealer Rater. This is not the impression we want to leave with any of our customers. We apologize that you felt you were talked down to, but we hope you can appreciate our attempt to be 100% honest with you. We always aim to give the highest possible trade values to every customer, but in most cases, a very old car that is dead and doesn’t run doesn’t have any value to a dealership. If another dealer is showing $2,500 for a car with no actual value, they are using money left over from somewhere in the deal, like the price of the vehicle, and moving it to the “trade allowance”. We believe in honest upfront pricing and values, and doing what’s right for the customer. We worked to our best price on the vehicle that was being purchased, and were upfront and honest about the value of the trade-in. In cases like these, we want the vehicle going to where it has the greatest value, therefore a charity or donation is sometimes recommended because the vehicle can be used by people who need it. If this information was taken the wrong way then we apologize. Our best interests are in our customers and the community. We hope that you give us another opportunity in the future.
