Unfortunately we've incured a lot of costs in the past year due to Covid and we are trying to absorb them all. It's been difficult. The 3.5% isn't a service charge. It's what we're charged to run the credit cards. Please contact our Service Director John St. Hilaire at jsthilaire@autofair.com or 603-634-4760. Especially before your next visit. We don't want to lose your business. We don't want to upset a single customer.

Hi Shawn, we want you to know that we are correcting the 3.5% issue. We are currently adjusting our pricing in service to include credit fees. We apologize for the experience you had while we were fumbling to find the best way to control an avalanche of Covid related costs. We hear you though, as (believe it or not) we hear all of our customers, and we are adjusting our policy. In hindsight, having the fee outside the transaction and pricing was just tacky. We apologize for our error. We didn't want you to have to wait until your next service to hear our apology.

Thank you for publicly responding to my concern. I acknowledge that is not something you had to do. COVID-19 is costly in many respects. The people who got ill, their caregivers and their loved ones paid the highest price of all. AutoFair Honda is not alone in contending with unexpected pandemic circumstances, your customers have them too. I use my credit card to protect my bank account from fraudulent charges. Debit cards are a direct line to a bank account. If bad actors obtain debit card information, they can use it to steal money from a victim's account. Victims must fight to recover stolen money. Credit cards simply avoid this. I used my credit card throughout the pandemic to pay for purchases from the smallest to the largest companies. None of them penalized me for using a credit card. The only penalty I incur is interest when I carry a balance. Why does AutoFair penalize credit card customers? COVID is not an answer. I expect all the other businesses I worked with have COVID related economic concerns, but none of them penalized me for paying with my credit card. As much as I dislike a charge for using my credit card, there is no question the 3.5% charge against my total bill was transparent. Now you are "adjusting pricing in service to include credit fees". Will the price adjustment effect all customers regardless of payment method or is it only for customers who use credit? Will you inform customers about the price differences before they pay with a credit card? Will the bill have a breakdown of service cost due to payment choice? Your customers understand that all businesses are suffering through the pandemic. Some businesses did not survive. Although your people and services are exceptional, I will not return until I have a clearer understanding on why you penalize customers who use credit cards.
