Over torqued the EcoDiesel oil filter causing low oil pressure and they couldn't get me in for almost 2 weeks. 2 minute search on the internet found a common problem is a Low Oil Pressure Alarm if you o pressure and they couldn't get me in for almost 2 weeks. 2 minute search on the internet found a common problem is a Low Oil Pressure Alarm if you over torque the oil filter. Found filter torqued to over 30 ft-lbs. Torqued to correct amount 25 nM (18.44fl-lbs), which is stamped on the oil filter, and the problem was solved. Here's the complete story: I dropped off my 2022 Gladiator for its first service at 10:00am on Friday April 7th. The Service Advisor, Carl, was helpful and explained the timeline would be approximately 2 hours. I waited for the service to be completed and a few minutes after noon the work was done. Everything looked good and I left with no issues. I stopped about 10 miles from the dealership and when I turned the vehicle back on the Low Oil Pressure alarm went off. The pressure dropped to as low as 6 psi but stabilized at about 30psi for most of the trip home, 6 miles, with the pressure dropping when I would slow down or stop. Once home I tried contacting the dealership but was in a constant loop of "Thank you for calling... please select form the following options". No matter what I selected I would loop back around to the "Thank you for calling....". on Saturday I finally go through, using the 3rd number I found. I talked with one of the Service Advisors, unfortunately I cannot remember his name, and this is how the conversation went. Me: I had the first service completed yesterday and before I got home the Low Oil Pressure alarm when off. I need to get this resolved so when can I bring the vehicle in to be fixed. Advisor: It probably just need to be topped off. (I had already checked the oil level and it was good). The earliest I can get you in is April 20th. Me: So, I brought the vehicle in for service yesterday and it now has a low oil pressure alarm, and you want me to wait 2 weeks to get it fixed? I need to have it corrected today, when can I bring it in? Advisor: You can drop it off today, but it will usually take them 2 to 3 days to get to it. Me: I cannot wait, I need the vehicle corrected today. Advisor: I can give you the Service Managers mobile number - Mike at 602-504-2202. I called Mike, left a message, and I'm sure he will get back to me any day now (April 16th and counting). Not expecting the Service Department be get back to me I completed a quick search of the internet to see if I could find the issue. Several articles on the topic of over torquing the plastic oil filter causing a drop in oil pressure popped up immediately. So, I grabbed a wrench to see if I could loosen the filter to see if this was the issue. It was so tight I could not loosen the filter with a open end wrench without fear of stripping the plastic off the oil filter. I pulled out a beam torque wrench to determine the torque to loosen the filter. The torque wrench read 30 Ft-lbs at its highest point and the filter turned almost 3 rotations before I could turn it by hand. I torqued to filter down to the specified 25nm and to no one's surprise the problem was solved. As a certified motorcycle technician, following the manufacturers specifications for service is the simplest thing a technician will ever do, beyond washing a vehicle. If a technician cannot follow the simple directions on a standard service, they cannot be trusted. If the Service Manager cannot spend the time to verify his technicians are qualified and complete the work properly, they cannot be trusted. If a Service Department is not aware of this very common issue, they cannot be trusted. I am beyond disappointed in the work completed by the Service Department at AutoNation Jeep North Phoenix. This was a "free" service, if anything could be called "free" when you spend $60+K on a vehicle, and the only reason I didn't do the work myself. I have 2 more "free" services I will not be using due to their incompetence. More
I had a 10:00 AM appointment. I was on time possibly even a few minutes early. I asked the tech how long it would take as I didn't have anyone to pick me up unless a rental car wa I was on time possibly even a few minutes early. I asked the tech how long it would take as I didn't have anyone to pick me up unless a rental car was available. He said he could get me an Uber but only if the distance I was going to was only 12 miles away - it was not. He said the repair time was about 20 minutes but could take longer depending on how busy they were - they were not busy that I could see - very few cards. It took almost two hours for there repair. When I asked about my car I was told it was just waiting for a wash. The wash took at least 30 minutes from the time I asked. The service tech said here is your car - it was not my car. I said "that is not mine" and he said - oh yours is still being washed (really??!!) Very very disappointing. More
We had a recall replacement of a passenger airbag on n/c warranty needed on our Chrysler 300 SRT8. We had asked Nicholas to be careful with our car, no car wash & please avoid door marks as it is one of 268 warranty needed on our Chrysler 300 SRT8. We had asked Nicholas to be careful with our car, no car wash & please avoid door marks as it is one of 268 built. Nicholas our advisor was very good to deal with bringing it in and picking our car up. The mechanic who worked on our car must have been good as well and left no signs of the work that had been done. Thank you. More
