I bought a used (2009 BMW328xi) car from Paul Blakeman at BMW of Alexandria and couldn't have had a better experience. The first time I went in, he asked if we could get a deal done that night and I told hi BMW of Alexandria and couldn't have had a better experience. The first time I went in, he asked if we could get a deal done that night and I told him if everything worked out perfect we could but that I doubted it. I was trying to trade in a used car and wanted to get the most I could for that. We ended up spending close to three hours and I left with a lot more knowledge but no car. I tried to sell my car on my own and couldn't get what I wanted. I went back to him and asked what he'd give me for my car. He gave me a number and I told him I needed more. He asked how much, I told him and he agreed. I went back in the next weekend and looked at pretty much every 2009 BMW 328i they had. I know he had to have been getting impatient as I just couldn't make up my mind. They had a lot of cars and I must have taken 6 - 8 of them out for test drives. I was there for about 5 hours. I finally settled on one, and we agreed on a price. We started the final paperwork and he told me it was certified pre-owned- after we'd agreed on a price! Now I know that's always a big selling point but it wasn't advertised as such because actually it had been certified about six months ago- so I got an extra two and a half years on the warranty- instead of running out in January, 2013 it runs through January 2015! Then, after he talked to the finance guy, he told me that in addition to it being certified, the car also has free maintenance for the life of the warranty, or through January 2015! I've been at other dealers where they would have tried to jack up the cost as a two year additional warranty would have cost over two grand and the free maintenance even more. Not Paul, though. There was one little hiccup which was as much my fault as his. He could easily have blown me off as the deal was already done and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. But instead he asked what he could do to make it right- as he wanted my experience at BMW of Alexandria to be a great one. He offered me some extras when he really didn't need to do that- just so he was sure I was 100 percent happy with my deal. Mark S. More

I met Paul through an Internet quote request for a new X3. I had been working with BMW of Sterling (who were very professional as well), and only came to see Paul when he offered to give me a very attract X3. Once in the dealership and after a bit of negotiation, Paul was able to work with his manager to get me the price I needed. The car was not on the lot yet, so they gave me a loaner, and Paul personally drove the car to my home when it arrived. Paul was friendly and professional throughout the entire experience, and I was very impressed that he took my 3 year old's questions very seriously when giving us a car tutorial. If I had to say anything negative, it was that all the BMW dealers I worked with (not just Paul) did not know many of the subtle details of the iPhone integration, Bluetooth audio vs USB audio, etc... Nor was there ever a clear guide from BMW to what features came with Nav vs without. For example, while I love my new X3, I was disappointed to find out that Bluetooth Audio streaming only comes with Nav. More
This dealership has an attitude problem. It is in a rich area so don't expect them to give you any attention if you just want to buy a 3 series. I was looking for a BMW last year (2011) and worked with Paul Blakeman but could not pull the trigger because of the inadequate cup holders. He stood out on our initial meeting as being extremely professional so I went back to him almost a year later and walked out with a new 2012 3 series. More
I was impressed with Paul's attitude and sincerity when putting together the deal on a BMW convertible. I have bought and sold several vehicles in my time and at no time have I had a salesman as honest as putting together the deal on a BMW convertible. I had been looking for a fun weekend convertible for over a year and had not found what I was looking for! He was fantastic from start to finish! My wife and I were amazed at the level of service and patience that Duane exhibited throughout the deal... did I forget to mention I brought three kids along. I hold Duane in the very highest regard and will certainly seek him out when I am ready for my next BMW! More
