I explained that I had driven a long way to inspect the car, and how in the world could I make an offer on it, before driving it? Ridiculous. The used car manager- Joel Jones, still would not allow a test drive. This was for a 4 year old BMW M Coupe, $35K used car. A stain on the BMW name. Drive to Lexington, KY to Don Jacobs BMW if you are in the area looking for BMW's and prefer not being insulted. More

I am fortunate to have a dealership I can trust and go to for the tough questions that plague my older (and newer!) BMWs. In our family, since the late '90's, we have purchased 4 new BMWs and 1 used BMW fro for the tough questions that plague my older (and newer!) BMWs. In our family, since the late '90's, we have purchased 4 new BMWs and 1 used BMW from Sam Swope. I have several older BMWs that consume a lot of parts. We have always been happy with the purchase process, and from a parts and service stand-point Sam Swope BMW is top-notch. Sure, the prices for the vehicles are on the higher side compared to like, regional dealerships, but we have always been treated fairly. And, it's not because we "look the part" either. Now, on to parts... there is no better place to buy BMW parts. Especially, if you are a BMW Car Club member. Jeff Byrn in parts has always gone over-the-top to help me out (including leaving parts with the receptionist when I can't make it during normal hours or shipping the parts to me... he's even hand-delivered to my house!). Talking to other folks around the country I consider myself very lucky to have this resource. From the service side, we are also very happy. Edwin Thomas has always really helped us out getting our new and used cars (both purchased at Sam Swope and elsewhere) in for service. Edwin has even offered his own personal car to my mother when she's had her car in for service when a loaner was not available. Top-notch, indeed! Thanks for always helping our family out, Sam Swope BMW. Now, if only you could talk BMW into producing cars that are worth purchasing again the world would be a better place. More
My son was approved for a loan to purchase a used Cadillac Eldorado, to our misfortune, it so happened to be at the Sam Swope BMW Used Car dealership. We were told the vehicle was priced at 5900. T Cadillac Eldorado, to our misfortune, it so happened to be at the Sam Swope BMW Used Car dealership. We were told the vehicle was priced at 5900. The same night, a different salesman called me to tell me, the price was $5650.00. We go to test drive the vehicle, it had a valve tap, it made a noise in the rear, needed new tires, paint damage all over the vehicle, chips, not in the condition we were led to believe this auto was in, for us to find it was in a rear collision, they never told us, when I asked for information, one salesman told me, he knew NOTHING of any auto's on the entire lot, as he only became a salesman one week ago. Well, he also raised the price up to 6,950.00. When we told him the internet price, he disagreed, we gave him an offer, he said he would speak to his manager, wow, he was gone for less than 30 seconds, to say NO! Not even entering the building, did not see him talk to not one person, at this time, I felt he was being greedy, as apparently he doesn't sell any cars, is not a qualified salesman, the car was low priced for being on a BMW lot, he just did not feel like "wasting his time" on a sale under 15,000.00. Seemed he would rather make nothing, than get a sale on a car that was too low priced for him to sell, not enough commission. I get a call back from the other salesman who quoted me a price of 5,650.00. When speaking to him, he also raised the price of this vehicle up to 6500.00. He would NOT budge on this price and was very nasty and ignorant to me. Now, tell me, my son has A+ excellent credit, was already credit approved by Sam Swope BMW, and today, we receive a letter, not from a consumer reporting agency, but from Sam Swope BMW, saying my son does not have good enough credit to purchase a car from their dealership, after they already approved his credit. I purchased a CTS Cadillac from Sam Swope, had all intentions of trading that auto in, in 2 years back to Swope. I now refuse to ever do any business with that company ever again, and being a person who does business with, and knows many many people all over the state of Kentucky, I will let them know how awful Sam Swope BMW is. I have never dealt with such ignorant, greedy, nasty, salesmen in my entire life and will save my friends from wasting their time, visiting that dealership. I believe they need to have their dealer license revoked. For I have NEVER been treated so shabbily by any automobile dealer in my entire life. Shame on YOU!!! Sam Swope BMW Used Car center. How do the salesmen and manager sleep at night, knowing all the people they are ripping off? Well, every dog has their day.. Soon, if they keep up with their lies, talking down to customers' and how little knowledge they have about used vehicles, they will be lucky if they sell one vehicle a month. Sam Swope, hire a new sales manager, and team. I will drive to a different Cadillac dealership when it is time for me to trade in my CTS... I am still waiting for the part Cadillac recalled for my vehicle, never to get a call, a letter, etc... Are they waiting for warranty to expire on my car??? I refuse to pay for a recall a flaw caused by General Motors, for Sam Swope to make money on a car that has a defect! Soon everyone will walk away from Sam Swope, if they keep up with their lies, deception and treating a young college boy like garbage, because he was not interested in a $15-20,000.00 vehicle. Sam Swope BMW used car center, needs some education on how to sell a car, and how to treat a potential buyer. NEVER AGAIN!!!! -0 star rating to that dealership!!!!! More
How horrid is Sam Swope BMW service? So bad that I'd rather drive over an hour away, to Lexington, just so they won't touch my car. I've already been warned by every one of my BMW friends who's had ser rather drive over an hour away, to Lexington, just so they won't touch my car. I've already been warned by every one of my BMW friends who's had service done there. One guy's car keeps having a new part break every time he takes it there. After paying for it, Sam Swope realize that THEY actually broke it, but since the new parts already installed, they won't refund him. Now it's my turn for service.... I bought a CPO car with 6 weeks remaining under the original full coverage warranty. During the time I noticed a few items that needed replacing, like a dry rotted window seal, defective shift knob that had moisture build up under the laquer...etc. Luckily I already knew Sam Swope was worthless so I had contacted Don Jacob's BMW at the same time. For those two items above, they said it was covered under warranty and would order the parts as soon as I give them the okay. Here's what Sam Swope had to say... Sam Swope, as expected, was not as willing to help. I had been referred to Edwin Thomas for service by friends and online car forum members who had excellent experiences with him. I emailed him detailed pictures of the items plus descriptions. When I spoke with him on the phone later, we discussed the items and he was extremely helpful and attentive. He said he would talk to his service manager and fight for as many items to be covered under warranty as he could. So far, Edwin had been extremely helpful and I was starting to think differently of Sam Swope. 10 Days, 10+ phone calls, multiple emails later...still no reply back. I end up emailing the service manager and every single service adviser (except Mike Brown because I had already heard how worthless he was from a friend's previous experience). Finally Tab, the service manager replies back and says that my particular trim piece is only a 2yr/24k mile warranty. That's funny, last time I checked it was called a FOUR YEAR MAINTENANCE/WARRANTY???? The shift knob and other items are normal wear and tear and therefore not covered. If I wanted them to repair the window seal it would be $450+. No Thanks. I can handle a 1hr+ drive to get it dealt with by a dealer willing to actually help their customers. Wonder why it took 10 days to get back to me? Maybe because my warranty was up in 13 days? My conspiracy theory is that Tab directed Edwin to ignore my phone calls until my warranty expired, then they would have no choice but to charge me. Edwin has a reputation for being an EXCELLENT service adviser the has been REPEATEDLY mentioned when I ask around he local car community. I am in no way questioning his credibility. I am, however, questioning the management of the Sam Swope BMW Service Department, under TAB BARNES. Thank goodness I was also talking to Don Jacobs at the same time. So how bad is Sam Swope? I'd rather drive 4 hrs to buy a car from someone else and drive over an hour to get it serviced just so those crooks can't touch my car. More
