BUYERS BEWARE — especially families working hard to save for a dependable vehicle. This VW was purchased from Balise Honda of West Warwick only 4 months ago, and less than 1,000 miles later the A/C compr for a dependable vehicle. This VW was purchased from Balise Honda of West Warwick only 4 months ago, and less than 1,000 miles later the A/C compressor failed — about a $1,600 repair. An extended warranty was purchased too, but apparently the A/C isn’t covered. What hurts most is how hard people work and save to buy a car. There was excitement about finally having a dependable vehicle from a reputable dealership. Had we known this would be the experience, that money could have gone somewhere else toward a vehicle sold and supported with the integrity we expected. An independent mechanic also reportedly found numerous diagnostic faults, while Balise said everything looked fine aside from the A/C. That leaves a fair question: what exactly was inspected before this vehicle was sold? Used cars can have problems. The bigger issue is how a dealership stands behind its customers when problems happen shortly after the sale. Instead, this customer feels passed from Balise Honda to Balise VW while two young children are riding in a vehicle without A/C during hot weather. Rhode Island consumers should also know that the state’s Lemon Law can cover used vehicles under certain circumstances, so document every repair attempt, invoice and day the vehicle is out of service. I’m not saying a used vehicle should never break. I’m saying customers deserve transparency, fair treatment and support after the dealership has their money. Balise still has an opportunity to review this situation and make it right. Until then, I would strongly recommend that buyers get an independent inspection, read every warranty exclusion, and get every promise in writing. A dealership’s reputation isn’t built when it makes the sale. It’s built by what it does when something goes wrong afterward. More

This is after my appointment was confirmed when I told them I was on my way. What a terrible way to run a business. Have some respect for the customer. Four hour round trip for nothing. The only good thing was Arsellys, the girl who helped me. She's the only reason there's one star to show. More
