I have purchased 5 vehicles from Berkenkotter Motors in Castle Rock and Brighton over the past 14 years for my family. 91 Mazda 626, 95 Honda Civic, 97 Lexus Es300, 2001 Acura MDX, 2003 Ford F350 6.0 Diese Castle Rock and Brighton over the past 14 years for my family. 91 Mazda 626, 95 Honda Civic, 97 Lexus Es300, 2001 Acura MDX, 2003 Ford F350 6.0 Diesel. Each vehicle had over 50,000 miles on them when I bought them. I still own the Ford and the Lexus. All the other vehicles had over 120,000 mile on them and I sold them myself. The lexus has over 220,000 miles on it and I am planning to trade it in on a different vehicle at Berkenkotter Motors. When I buy vehicles I do the research on them Because I am buying vehicles used and as is and do not know how the vehicle was treated by the previous owner I have it checked out by my mechanic. If my mechanic says that the vehicle is in good or excellent shape then I look to the reviews for that make and model on the internet for problems and take the positve and negative reviews with a grain of salt so to say. If it looks like the vehicle has had the same issues then I negogiate the extended warranty into my deal. So far I have purchase two warrenties. One on the 2001 Acura MDX because of transmission problems and one on the Ford F350 because of 6.0 diesel problems. I used the warranty on the MDX after owning it for three months. The Acura dealership put in a brand new transmission with my warranty. I have not had an issues with any of the other vehicles I purchased. I continue to return to Berkenkotter Motors because I like their selection and I like working with them and I know that I can always get into a vehicle for the right price. I know that when I purchase a vehicle that it is purchaded "AS IS" and that is why I will take it to my mechanic first and if there is a problem then I will look at something else. I have never had a problem. I am a family of five with three teenage drivers on a limited budget and cannot afford problems. The other reviews I have read come from people who will have problems with any used car dealerships because they dont seem to understand the term "AS IS" and that it is regulated by the State Of Colorado. Vehicles are an expensive need. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! More
I got a 2006 dodge cummins from them 3 days later 2nd gear went out. I took the truck to a performance shop and got a ats aftermarket tranny for $5950. While the truck was there the mechanic did a compre gear went out. I took the truck to a performance shop and got a ats aftermarket tranny for $5950. While the truck was there the mechanic did a compression test on the engine and the results where very bad. So now I need a engine!! Took the truck home and noticed the paint on the bed had some bubbles in it so it started chipping off and there is nothing but rust! they painted over alot of rust. Also the truck needs 2 injectors and a new turbo. The list goes on and on like the seat belt are broken. One in the back is missing!! All for $20k. So if you are thinking about a truck from them take your time to inspect it carefully. Get the car fax report! Have a mechanic check it over. More

Obviously, I wanted to maximize my sell price while also minimizing the tax hit. Dan came up with a plan where I could trade in my vehicle through the new car dealer and he would buy it directly from them. Worked out great! Dan and Glen are good folk and trust worthy. Which was not my expectation when I originally pulled onto their lot. More
Drove six hours to get to this dealership to trade in on a new truck. Sam was polite but gave me a bad taste in my mouth immediately... Test drove four trucks and finally settled on one. He said no problem a new truck. Sam was polite but gave me a bad taste in my mouth immediately... Test drove four trucks and finally settled on one. He said no problem on financing so got to work with Ed on the paperwork. After refusing to falsify information, I'm two weeks into this tuck and still have no final contract. The truck is in the shop for service to be covered under thir after market warranty, but they have still not paid the warranty and though they say they have sent the paperwork in, nobody at the warranty company has received it. Loan has also still not gone through because Ed messed up the paperwork and had to overnight it to me ten days later for more signatures. Decent prices on trucks, and he gave me a killer price for my trade in, but overall very displeased with the level of service. I've bought from a number of dealers and finally understand the slimy snake reputation so many dealers have, More

But that's not the half of it. Three days after I took ownership, I was told my tail lights were out. Replaced the fuse, nothing happened. Had a local shop take a look at it, and they gave me an estimate of close to $700 to fix a fuse box and module. I was a little upset, called the dealership, and to make a long story short...they took in the truck, repaired it, and took care of it totally, and on top of that, they gave me a loaner truck for 3 days while they did it. Never have I had a dealership do something like that for me in buying a used truck or car. Dan, BJ, and Glen....You guys rock, and so does your dealership!!! I will buy my next truck from them and recommend them highly. More
Passed by this dealership many times on my way to work and stopped in to see about a Jeep Grand Cherokee I saw. They let me look around without hounding me. They were recomended to me by a friend and I can honestly say I will purchase from them again. The Car a 2009 Acura MDX was super clean and well maintained with a good price to boot. All in all I feel they treated me vey well, always were honest (No Tricks) and had a good selection of quality cars to chose from. I will be buying a second car soon and it will be from them! More

I was very surprised to see a couple pour reviews and felt obligated to say something. I have yet to buy a truck from Berkenkotter, but I have purchased four trailers from them. I own a small business in felt obligated to say something. I have yet to buy a truck from Berkenkotter, but I have purchased four trailers from them. I own a small business in castle rock, and am always in a hurry.... I have never had an out the door sale that lasted greater than 45 minutes. The last trailer they sold me was a keystone raptor 3612 toy hauler. The trailer was about $6k below blue book to begin with, but atop that Bj put new tires on it (6 total not cheap!) fixed a jack and the stairs.... Things that they did not have to do for the price of the trailer! On a different trailer, I had to transport some specialty product to Wyoming the following day and uhaul was already closed. Bj hooked me up with a motorcycle trailer 5 x 8 brand new for a little over $600 bucks! I couldn't find one on Craigslist for less than a grand! I have purchased a 24 foot car hauler and skid steer dump trailer with similar experiences. The other day I was in with an itch for a mid life crises car.... They threw me the keys to one of their corvettes...l after me driving it for a good hour, I came back and said it was not the right fit for me. Now I have never test drove a car for an hour before without that dealership trying to keep me at their establishment until I was driving home a mistake.... Not Berkenkotter Steve just told me to keep checking back they would get the right one in, when they do I will buy it from them! More
Buyer BEWARE!!!! This "dealership" as they like to call themselves is to be avoided if you value your hard earned money! We recently purchased a truck from them and have had nothing but m they like to call themselves is to be avoided if you value your hard earned money! We recently purchased a truck from them and have had nothing but mechanical problems from day one!!! When taking it to Douglas County Diesel(what an awesome company) for the emissions test, they noticed that there was a problem with the brakes. Upon further inspection, they showed us how bad the breaks actually were. This truck should have never been on the road with brakes like these! It would cost $720.00 to fix just the back brakes. Berkenkotter didn't care as that was part of "routine" maintenance not covered in the warranty we asked for as it was a USED - SOLD AS IS vehicle. A month and a half into owning this truck, the fuel injector has gone out in it. The truck also appeared to have a newer bed lining in it, that was only there to cover the large hole in the truck bed from where there was once a Goose Neck Trailer Hitch. HAVE A MECHANIC INSPECT ANY VEHICLE BEFORE BUYING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! The vehicle is now back in the shop and now we find out that they never added the warranty to the sales contract. Can't wait to see what that estimate comes back as. We agreed to sell our other vehicle thru them on "consignment" ... what a mistake!!! Little or no effort has been made and we are on our way to pick it up and sell it ourselves now that we have two car payments. They have their money and that's all they care about - padding their pockets and not about the customer! They could care less about you once they have your money!!! Please learn from our VERY COSTLY ERROR IN TRUSTING BERKENKOTTER MOTORS and go some place else to purchase your vehicle. I would be willing to bet that the 5 star reviews I have seen here are from employees, not actual customers! Other reviews from another site: "So an advertised Ford F350 Diesel truck for a very good price at Berkenkotter Motors in Parker. As I was approached by the salesman who might I ad was very personal and polite. Sam the sales man new quite a bit about the truck and its history, which made me feel like I was working for a reputable dealer and this would be a very good experience. I requested to have the vehicle checked out by a mechanic and then make a fair offer with my current trade in. As I left the dealership Sam had mentioned that he could assist me in selling my trade in on the side or under therir consignment program and I was thrilled that he as able to offer me more money by working this program instead. It sounded great. Well the nightmares are just starting to begin, the Ford truck I was trying to buy was a roach as quoted by the mechanic and service shop and they even wen to the extent of saying we wouldn't even know where to start, their quote to make the vehicle safe was $2890 and that would only be repairing 60%, and the truck only cost $7900. How crazy. Can it get worse, I call the dealershio to speak with Sam and Scott, who is the part owner said well we don't an agreement to sell your car and we require that on file; and that I will have to get back with you. To no avail after six calls to Berkenkotter they finally said come pick up your trade because there is no interest. Well I don't thin the vehicle was ever being sold by the dealership and that after reviewing all the comments I understand how crooked these people are. Don't ever buy a car from Berkenkotter." "Apparently, I am not the only person that has experienced a good face to face meeting and vehicle that is sub par. My temp tags are currently still on the vehicle and the transfer case has started pouring fluid from it. No response, other than Sorry bout that....Sold AS-IS. I'm not sure that that posting anything here is going to make a difference but maybe it help steer other people away from the lack luster workmanship that seems to be a trend. I bought two different cars from them as well and both gave me issues from the beginning. I wont buy a third. I tried to give them the benefit of doubt buying the second but they are the reason people don't like used car salesman." "My Review of Berkenkotter Motors: What would you think of a Parker business that would be so low to sell a used truck to a partially disabled veteran and not stand behind it when the transmission fails in the first month (with temp tags still on it)? Did I mention that the disabled veteran (me) needed to have the bigger vehicle to get to needed medical appointments that would be much more dependable, and could get in and out of easier, while also reliably transporting children to school and activities? Did I note that we actually purchased “two” trucks from them in an effort to support local businesses/economy, and because we needed them?! Did I also mention that all money that was available went toward the purchase of this truck? And then…..the impossible happened….THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, costing a considerable amount of money to fix. Money that was not readily available. All that Berkenkotter Motors (Parker, CO) offered was a “Sorry about that. It was sold AS IS. Here’s our number for a transmission mechanic.” NOT GOOD ENOUGH I SAY!! Another brilliant comment to cite to me as I was stuck in the middle of rush traffic waiting for the tow truck and Douglas County Police to arrive. Regardless of sold “AS IS” I believe that there is still an ounce of integrity and business ethics that needed to be employed during this type of problem (especially given the uniqueness to the situation). I have even written them to “encourage” participating to help resolve this crisis. However, as I figured, the phone lines remains quiet and no email traffic either. If you’re planning on buying any type of vehicle (even a push-bike) from Berkenkotter Motors…….DON’T DO IT!!! Run away fast and go someplace else. Don’t let this happen to you!! Thank you Berkenkotter Motors! You have taught us a HUGE lesson that we are going to continue to share with others (in every way possible)! I would change the Berkenkotter motto from “Drive our Reputation” to “Tow of Reputation to the Closest Mechanic.” Thank you to the Berkenkotter Motors staff for ruining our family Christmas and the charitable season that we always do for others…..maybe next year…..
