Purchased a brand new 2016 535i from Bert Smith, and at 58,000 miles and out of warranty my power steering went out completely. Service department tells me it will cost me $12,300 to fix everything, which 58,000 miles and out of warranty my power steering went out completely. Service department tells me it will cost me $12,300 to fix everything, which also includes a leaking oil pan ($2,600) and transmission bushing replacement in addition to a complete replacement of the steering rack/module. I was open to the idea of trading it in for a new car if they'd offered to treat me fairly given the low mileage and huge expenses to repair, but no such luck. This dealership's reputation for gouging after the sale and not honoring repeat buyers was affirmed to me, and I took my business to Sarasota BMW. More
