Recall appointment and small dent/ding removal. My car was in and out in the specified length of time (which was short in my opinion-around 2 hours for both services performed). Somehow my battery was drained while a new key was made. I paid $142 to get a replacement key made. While this seem high I understand that it is like a little computer with a chip in it. When I went to leave I paid $142 to get a replacement key made. While this seem high I understand that it is like a little computer with a chip in it. When I went to leave the car would not start. The service person jumped it and brought it back inside. She indicated that my battery power was low and that it probably needed a new battery which they could put in in about 15 minutes. This battery would not be covered by the warranty. I was in a bind as we needed to leave to go to Chicago for a play. I thought it was quite odd that the battery had shown no signs of issues even though it was quite cold that morning. I decided to take the car and see if the hour plus drive would recharge the battery. As it turns out it has been just fine and the only thing I can think of is that the battery was drained during the key copying process. Had I chosen to do what the service person recommended I would have been out a few hundred dollars for no reason. I should add that I asked for a loaner due to the time constraint I had and none were available. I think the key duplication process needs to be reviewed to see what demands this makes on the electrical system. Everyone was personable but had no answer for why my battery was suddenly drained other than to say the car is three years old. More
