My daughter bought a used vehicle with around 112k miles from them last year which is "as is". The vehicle was not a Toyota which perhaps compounds things. But before her 30 days were up, she came in to have a LED light fixed and a tire that was leaking air and needed a patch which they did fix. She also mentioned that the check engine light was on. The mechanic helping her pulled the code and when she asked what the code meant, his response was I don't know. My daughter who is not a mechanic, pulled out her phone and googled the code with the mechanic standing there and it was for a Super charger bypass valve. She told the mechanic what she got, and his reply was, I don't know how to fix that. He cleared the code and told her to come back if it lights up again! Well, it did. Where is Bill Penny getting their mechanics from? ACNE? Perhaps even worse, there was no I am sorry I don't know how to fix this, or let me check with someone else, or I am sure if you take it to _______, I am sure they would know. Jump forward, 6 months. while driving on interstate, the car started making noises that a normal engine should make. She was able to pull it over after crossing 4 lanes of traffic. Another mechanic, (not Bill Penny I might add), found that the engine was toast! One piston's connecting rod somehow got bent, the piston head shattered (can't even find it), a small piece of the piston cylinder wall broke off and 3 valves were sucked in! Engine is toast. RIP I believe that if she had been given some direction from their mechanic, there would be no need for a new engine now. Interestingly, she tried calling them several times, but no one would even have the decency to call her back. On the other hand, I bet if she were calling to ask about buying a car, they would have quickly returned the call. She finally decided to come in and talk to someone that could help her in person. She spoke with the Used car sales director and all she got was, "I am sorry, I understand...", and "I agree that it was not right that the mechanic did not know what the code was". etc. He finally said that I suppose a gift card for $100 would not help. Ouch! That is like saying, lets open the wound and put some salt in it and then rub it in! I like the Toyota cars, but I will NEVER buy from Bill Penny in Huntsville! More
Bought my 2022 Toyota Tacoma in January, they charged well over MSRP! I took my truck in for service due to a miss/jolt when accelerating and there was no check engine light on. I left it there for 3 days before they notified me that couldn't find any issues. They notated accelerating and there was no check engine light on. I left it there for 3 days before they notified me that couldn't find any issues. They notated on the receipt that they felt the miss/jolt and recommended a list of services starting with a transmission flush and an ECM flash. I agreed and $400.00 dollars later, the services were done. However, the problem wasn’t fixed and the jolt still occurred. Instead of continuing to throw money at the issue, I decided use an OBD II scanner and review live data while driving. I hooked up the scanner and while driving the miss/jolt happened. I read all the different categories on the scanner and got to the misfire data. It stated I had a misfire in cylinder 3. I pulled the plug in cylinder 3 and it was in bad shape. So I pulled all the plugs and they were all in bad shape. I changed the plugs and now the truck runs smooth as silk. I am wondering why the services department never used a scan tool with live data reading or thought to pull and check a plug with the symptoms I was experiencing. They notated they felt a miss. I don’t feel like they spent any time looking for the issue. For the money spent, I expect more. More

So my wife brought her Toyota Prius to Bill Penney Toyota 6/15 for a new 12v battery installed.This battery is installed under the hood not in the rear of the vehicle. The battery was $188.40. When questioned about that cost they said because it took them an hour to install it and she could talk to the installer if she had an issue. Pretty rude service and I'd be shocked if it took an hour to install that battery. Anyway, we will not be getting her vehicle serviced there anymore. More

I scheduled maintenance under the new car service agreement but Tyler Long ordered $130 of additional work that he never got approval from me for. I purchased a 2020 Sienna and have brought up the issue of this vehicle having hesitation and acceleration issues after the first week of owning ii and numerous times since then. On all occasions I was tol of this vehicle having hesitation and acceleration issues after the first week of owning ii and numerous times since then. On all occasions I was told by the service department that this was normal for the car because of the Eco system. Now the word has finally come out that there is a recall because of the fuel pump. I’m a descent hands on type of person and know when things are just not right, so why aren’t the trained technicians capable of finding and fixing the issues? Now I am aware that this vehicle can stall on me at any time and they don’t have the parts to fix it. I surely hope nothing happens to my family or anyone as a result of what I see as negligence on the part of Toyota and the Bill Penny dealership. More
