I bought a certified pre-owned car in April and had a pretty frustrating experience overall. The buying process itself was slow and typical, long wait times and pressure from finance to buy an extended w pretty frustrating experience overall. The buying process itself was slow and typical, long wait times and pressure from finance to buy an extended warranty. Before purchasing, I made sure the sales associate noted I needed a second key. First I was told a coworker had it and to come back the next week (inconvenient since I live in the city). Then the timeline got pushed out another week, then the story changed again - they weren’t sure if it was actually the spare, and said I needed to come in, check, then come back again after ordering to program a new key. I asked them to just order one to avoid multiple trips. When I showed up, no one knew what I was talking about. A manager eventually admitted I should have received two keys with a CPO vehicle. They did manage to program a key, and the service team was efficient once I pushed for it, but the process was disorganized and full of finger-pointing. Meanwhile, I got a flat tire and discovered the car had wheel locks but no key was provided. I had already bought a spare kit since one wasn’t included, but that didn’t help without the lock key. My sales rep offered no real solution other than towing the car, at my expense, back to the dealership to have the locks broken off. I ended up paying a local mechanic $100 to remove and replace them. When I told the manager, he basically brushed it off and said I could call him next time. Overall, the experience was messy, inconvenient, and poorly handled. I wouldn’t recommend Schaumburg Kia. More
