Thomas J. Brogan's work ethic brought him to the top of the country's list of salesmen in the 1920's. Starting as a demonstrator at E.A. Brown Auto Company, Inc. in Paterson, New Jersey, Tom diligently worked his way up to president of Brogan Cadillac-LaSalle Company. In 1922, he was honored as the country's leading salesman because of his hard work and volume of sales. In October of 1925, the success of Tom Brogan made it possible to devote a brand new 20,000 square-foot New Jersey facility to Cadillac. Brown-Brogan Cadillac Co. continued to grow and in 1927 Tom Brogan assumed sole ownership. That was the birth of a Brogan tradition that has continued to proudly service the community for 80 years. Brogan Cadillac Totowa responded

On November 10th 2011, Mr. D. came to Brogan Cadillac to meet with Ronald R., with whom he had an appointment. For the next hour, Ronald went over various details about news cars with Mr. D., as well as evaluated his current lease payments. After successfully choosing a new car, Ronald quoted Mr. D. possible payments on his new vehicle. He mentioned that he would like Brogan to take care of the last two payments on his current lease. Our new car sales manager accommodated this request and structured the deal accordingly. Upon returning from structuring the deal, Ron quoted the price and payments for the new vehicle. Mr. D. instantly became defensive and raised his voice. He started to yell in the showroom and made a tremendous scene. He stated that “Brogan must match his price or he would buy the car at a different dealership”. He also said that Brogan will “have to service his new car”. The new car sales manager stepped in to resolve the situation. He accommodated Mr. D.’s desired price, and they shook hands about the deal. Mr. D. even stated “that’s the way business should be done”. The next day Mr. D. called Ron R. inquiring about the price of the new car in the event that he bought out his current lease. Mr. D. had visited another dealership and received a lower quoted price. The car industry is an increasingly competitive business, so closing every possible deal is important. In order to successfully sell the car, Ron stated that the payments would be less if he bought out his current lease. Later that day, Mr. D. entered Brogan Cadillac and immediately shouted at Ron R. and to all of the customers in the showroom that Brogan is “a bunch of frauds and liars”. Mr. D. was loud and abusive not only to Ron and myself, but also to the elderly customers who were sitting in the showroom. At that time, I decided that Mr. D. was no longer welcome at Brogan Cadillac. I refunded his deposit and politely asked him to leave. This was an unfortunate incident and not an accurate description of the quality service and vehicles at Brogan Cadillac. If anyone would like to read positive responses about our 85 year old company please visit customer testimonials at brogancadillac.com. Sincerely, T. J. Ely
