In May of this year we purchased a 2017 Chevy Colorado from Bryan Easler Toyota in Hendersonville, NC. The truck had one previous owner (per Car Fax report) and no red flags as far as maintenance issues ( from Bryan Easler Toyota in Hendersonville, NC. Bryan Easler has a five day buy back guarantee. However, when we tried to have them buy the vehicle back on Day 2 after it broke down, we were told by the Bryan Easler dealership (Danny) that we needed to see what was wrong first. Bryan Easler had it towed to Asheville Chevy for diagnostics and repair. We then found out from the dealership that earlier this year Asheville Chevrolet replaced the transmission on this truck. The previous owner had paid half and the dealership had paid half for this repair. When I asked why it didn’t show up on Car Fax, we were told that it was because it was warranty work (well, it wasn’t really if the previous owner paid half). The truck only had 40,000 miles on it when we purchased it. If we had known it had a transmission replacement already, that would’ve been a red flag, and we wouldn’t have purchased it. After Bryan Easler had it towed to Asheville Chevy’s service department, it sat there for a month undergoing transmission repairs on its brand new transmission. The truck still was not right. So we brought it back to Asheville Chevy a month later. This time we were told it was the reluctor (even though the report print out that the technician gave us said the reluctor looked fine), but they tried to charge us $4000 for a new reluctor. When we brought the vehicle to Asheville Chevy, it still ran. When we picked it up, it wouldn’t even start and had to be towed to Waynesville Chevy for a second opinion before we would allow for a reluctor replacement. Waynesville Chevy said a lot of the damage, and maybe all of it, was likely caused by the previous repairs done by Asheville Chevy. According to Waynesville Chevy, the truck needs a new engine, and they are asking $18,000 for repairs, which we simply cannot afford. So I am stuck with a $34,000 loan on a truck with low mileage that will not even start. This experience has caused our family a tremendous amount of heartache and pain. We are paying $50 a day for a rental car because we cannot get approved for another car loan because of our existing loan on this truck, and we cannot afford $18,000 repairs. So this truck, with 40,000 miles on it at the time of purchase in May broke down the day after we bought it, and now sits at Waynesville Chevy, where it will not even start. How is this fair? Asheville Chevy and the dealership who sold it to us (Bryan Easler) will not accept any responsibility. I wish I had the right words for the effects this has had on us financially and emotionally. I have had service on all of my vehicles done at Bryan Easler for more than 10 years. I literally won’t take any car I drive to another dealership. Hank and Antonio are a team to be reckoned with… these Easler for more than 10 years. I literally won’t take any car I drive to another dealership.
