Hello. My car arrived last week and it is great! I really appreciate all of the work your associates have put in when I have had questions along the way. I would like to give some feedback about how my car arrived and the interaction I had with the 3rd party. I was left feeling really underwhelmed and wanted to share my experience so you have some input about that 3rd party. Firstly, my car arrived with a completely empty gas tank. I didn't expect a full tank, but the gas light was on and the dial was as far empty as it could get. I worried that I wouldn't be able to reach a gas station to fill it up. Not sure what the expectation is surrounding amount of fuel, but anything more than completely empty would have been great. When the man delivered my car, he didn't even speak to me. He shoved the paperwork into my hands and I had to ask what it meant and what I was signing. He said only "there are scratches." That was fine, but some communication on his part would have been nice so I knew what process I was participating in. He also made no attempt to check that I was the owner of the car, he just handed the keys to the person that walked up to him. Finally, he was not wearing any mask or protective equipment and made no attempt to address the global pandemic that is currently happening and what precautions he took. This was incredibly disappointing. Again, I'd really like to share that I have been nothing but happy in my interactions with CARVANA, but the third party who was delivering the car was unprofessional, unaware, and appeared to lack any concern for his job or the current health situation. This may not be what you want to hear. The process was great. The car arriving with warped rotors, worn brake pads and leaking strut was horrible. Very easy process, some drawbacks Note that this purchase took place during coronavirus quarantine, so I can't review whatever is the usual process. I assume it is generally the same as the process we went through. First, the pros: It was great to go to the website and put in the exact specs we wanted in a vehicle, and have so many options to choose from. The website gives a thorough description of each vehicle, including some flaws, except (unfortunately) it does not indicate whether the car was previously owned by a smoker or that it has cigarette smoke smell in it. We did not finance the vehicle we bought, so I can't review that process. However, the buying procedure is very straightforward--no dickering, no wondering whether you could've gotten a better deal if you played hardball: the price is the price. If you want a car that costs less, you can probably find it on the website if you're willing to forgo a feature or two. The delivery of the vehicle is also extremely easy. You set the time you want it delivered, and they deliver it at or around that time. The driver communicates before delivery, so you have a heads-up about the exact time it will arrive. When the vehicle arrives, you are given the opportunity to test drive it before signing off on it, and then you have seven more days to reject it if it doesn't work for you for any reason. Cons: You don't get to test drive the vehicle until it arrives at your house. This is a pretty big drawback if you are undecided about which make and model of vehicle you want. Sometimes just test driving two or three different models helps us make the decision about which one will work best for us. Fortunately, we knew this time exactly which make and model we wanted, so it wasn't an issue. But it will be for our next car, since we're undecided which model we want. Also, since the website doesn't say anything about cigarette smoke smell, you won't find out whether your vehicle smells like smoke until you've already financed it and it arrives at your door. This happened to us. We took it for a quick drive after it was delivered, and realized within the first mile that there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke. We were going to reject it outright, but the driver offered a couple of remedial solutions, including putting an ionizer in it for 12 hours, and giving us $150.00 to have it detailed. We chose to have the ionizer (which supposedly eliminates the smoke on the molecular level). The driver took the car back and the company did run the ionizer. When he brought it back the next day, the smoke smell seemed to be gone, though there was a faint smell like chlorine bleach from the ionizer, which he said would fade. He also recommended that we have the cabin air filter replaced, and claimed it should only cost around $15-20 to buy one and replace it ourselves. We wondered why, since it is so inexpensive, the company didn't just replace it for us when they realized we had a problem with the smoke smell? Anyway, the smoke smell returned just after the 7 day trial period had already ended, though it is much fainter now. Overall, I give the process 4 stars. I took a star off because not being able to test drive proved to be a significant drawback for us. More
