I always wanted to buy a new car. Especially considering that I had been driving a 2003 vehicle for the last few years. I had my mind set on a few brands, but I was still unsure about what car I wanted. Upo that I had been driving a 2003 vehicle for the last few years. I had my mind set on a few brands, but I was still unsure about what car I wanted. Upon walking into Checkered Flag Toyota on Virginia Beach Blvd, I immediately noticed which car I wanted. And after test driving the 2013 Toyota Corolla Sport Premium, I wanted it even more. My saleman, Jim, was very polite and corteous and not pushy whatsoever. In fact, the entire staff was extremely accomidating to my needs. As for the car, it's everything I wanted/needed and more. If you were to take the "Corolla" name off of the back of the car, you would never guess it was a Corolla. Both the exterior and interior is streamlined and impressive looking. It came fully loaded (navigation, leather, heated seats, push button start, paddle shifters, etc.) for a very reasonable price, which was negotiable as well. All Toyota's come with Toyota Care too, so all of my routine maintenance is free! In the end, I walked out of the dealership knowing that I got the best price possible. My two best friends also bought two vechicles from Jim (a 2014 Highlander, and a 2014 Tacoma), and they too had the same experience as me. If you're looking for great cars, with the best resale values on the market (according to KBB, Toyota wins that hands-down), at the best prices possible, and a great staff, go check out Checkered Flag and ask for Jim Bowman. By far the best car buying experience I've had! More
Went in to Purchase a 2013 Avalon. 2 University Professors and a retired US Marine. Although we made an appointment and the dealer set up the meeting; the salesman was uneducated and seemingly surprised by our visit. None of the cars we previously talked about were on hand. He said they were at another dealer and had not been brought over. After we asked ourselves why did we make an appointment and come if no cars were available. We asked to see some other cars. We went to the door and waited for the salesman. He went to retrieve his jacket but received a phone call. After 10 minutes or so I asked him if someone was going to show us some Avalons. He said I will be there in a minute. We waited another 5 minutes or so and just walked out. He was just too busy but mostly arrogant to show us some cars? He honestly could not handle educated consumers. We went to two other dealers and they let us test drive their cars, ask detailed questions, etc. We purchased a car the very same day. What a rude and ignorant dealership. Salesman simply didn't know what he was talking about on any level. I will never buy a car there nor recommend this place to my friends. Priority Toyota was a different world all together. This place is all show and no go. What a colossal waste of time. Rude. Rude! RUDE! IGNORANT! More

I had just gone in to test drive a Corolla and met Terrence. He was very easy going and did not pressure and I was allowed to take my time to make my decision. Terrence. He was very easy going and did not pressure and I was allowed to take my time to make my decision. More
James House is an excellent salesman, no pressure, helpful, informative, friendly. 2nd car I bought there through him. Toyotas are great, dependable, good gas mileage, and good looking. Purchased a Used 2010 Certified Toyota Tundra in September. Was not going to write a review, even though the Sales Manager stated I should (felt he just didn't want to hear my concerns) for I was aw September. Was not going to write a review, even though the Sales Manager stated I should (felt he just didn't want to hear my concerns) for I was awaiting follow up by Checkered Flag on the sale but have NOT heard from anyone. And if you notice not one of the negative reviews on here gets a reply from the Customer Care Director so the pattern of my experience is obviously routine. Met with Shannon my first visit. I showed him the vehicle I was interested in, he opened it, made a few remarks and sent me on my way for a test ride by myself. Surprised but whatever for he didn't take my name or any info to follow up. Then came back another day to discuss pricing. We could not make a deal so we parted ways. Friendly enough but did not seem to care if I purchased or not. Other dealers have called me to follow up as well as when vehicles arrive I might like. I noticed the price dropped but never heard from anyone so stopped by again. We discussed further and again could not meet terms. Not a manager visit, nothing but sorry, no deal and we were pretty close in price. As I continued my vehicle search, I see the price dropped yet again and as expected no contact from Checkered Flag. So I came in again and this time we struck a deal however the vehicle needed a few things done. We set a time/day to pick up the vehicle. When I came by Shannon was not there and vehicle was not as promised. Minor things but still. Got with a Sales Manager who made things right, even had Shannon order new car mats but when they arrived they were not even the correct color. Come on, really? No one even took the time to explain the Toyota Certified Program to me until I went to a different dealer for service since my experience with Checkered Flag was so poor. Even found out that when Shannon explained my vehicle had Synthetic Oil and we only should change it every 10,000 miles, that this was in fact not true for my vehicle actually has Conventional Oil. WOW! I felt I did all the work to sell myself a vehicle. You would expect a Toyota Dealer selling a Certified Used Toyota that was originally sold at this dealer, would have more pride and less arrogance when selling one of their own brand. Would not recommend this dealer unless you just want to pick up a car and don't expect anything more. More
I found my Toyota Corolla on the USAA Car Buyer Web Site. Checkered Flag Toyota was the certified dealer for this vehicle. I contacted Checkered Flag via the web site and within minutes I was contacted by Checkered Flag Toyota was the certified dealer for this vehicle. I contacted Checkered Flag via the web site and within minutes I was contacted by their On Line Concierge and made an appointment to meet with the Sales Manager, Mark Anthony. Mark assigned me to James House, who took me for a test drive. When I decided to buy the vehicle, James walked me through the sales process and showed me all the car's features before I drove off the lot. I got a great price for the new car and good deal on my trade in. This was the my easiest car buying experience, ever. More
Terrence was extremely friendly and I would highly recommend any of my friends to go see him if they wanted a new car. He was easy to work with and really seemed to care about us. Even though we made recommend any of my friends to go see him if they wanted a new car. He was easy to work with and really seemed to care about us. Even though we made the decision later in the day, he stayed until we left. He helped me link my Bluetooth up and answer any other questions I had. I even called him two days later and he was more than willing to help me answer my questions! More
Buying a car can be a stressful experience but working with Rob made it actually enjoyable - no pressure - no stress. Both men were attractive and easy going. We will definitely recommend Checkered Flag and will use this dealership for future purchases. More
