I came to Ditschman/Flemington Ford Lincoln looking to finance a car for the first time. Jim O'brien asked me to come in. Him and Tiana Ireland were both excellent to talk with and very knowledgeable. They helped explain the car buying process to me and did everything they could to see that I left with a new car. Jeff Cramer in financing was very pleasant and helped the final step be easy and quick. Jerry Sheehan introduced himself to me and was a really nice man. Even after having the car being told to come back or call if i ever needed anything was a great feeling. I appreciate everything this group of employees did for me. It was a great first experience and I definitely plan on keeping my business here with Steve Kalafer. More

I live in Jersey City and had leased my car at Jersey City Ford Lincoln Mercury. My lease was up at the end of December 2012. I had a terrible experience at JCFLM (see my separate review for them) and City Ford Lincoln Mercury. My lease was up at the end of December 2012. I had a terrible experience at JCFLM (see my separate review for them) and did not want to do business with them again. After finding out from Ford Credit that I could complete the lease-end transaction at any Ford dealer, I went searching for a dealer that would not screw me over (not an easy task). Someone recommended Ditschman to me. I checked out their reviews on this website and while it looked good, I knew you can't believe everything you read (just look at all the positive reviews for JCFLM). JCFLM wanted to charge me a $500 "dealer fee" to purchase my Escape. I drove to Ditschman, which is 50 miles away from me, to see what they would charge me to buy the vehicle. I met with Jeff Cramer, the Finance Manager. He spent about 15 minutes with me initially going over what the charges would be. Not including the residual purchase price of the car, there were registration/licensing/DMV fees that are pre-written into the contract. But there was no "dealer fee." Furthermore, Ditschman's clerical/DMV fees were less than JCFLM. I received a printout of what the contract would look like, with all the numbers clearly written on it. So everything sounded great. So far so good. The only thing was I had to get a new check from PenFed (who I got the financing from) because the original one was made out to JCFLM. Because of problems with PenFed it took me about a month to get the new check. So I finally headed back to Ditschman to complete the transaction. It was snowing that day and about 3/4 of the way out there my low tire pressure warning light went on. This freaked me out, having never seen this before. I was afraid I could have a tire blow out. So I finally make it to Ditschman and I meet with Jeff Cramer again. (I hadn't called ahead to make an appt; fortunately he was available). When I finally sit down with him to go over everything again and give him the check, guess what? Everything was exactly as he said it would be. All the numbers were the same. No dealer fee. This might sound trivial, but I can assure you, having worked with JCFLM, it is not. Ditschman said they would do something and they did exactly what they said they would. Jeff than put on my temporary plates and went over the amount of time it would take to get the new plates and the process, as well as the process for having the title sent to PenFed. For him I'm sure it was business as usual but for me it reaffirmed my faith that there was at least one honest car dealership out there. A couple of weeks later, guess what happened? My new plates arrived in the mail, exactly as Jeff said they would! What a concept! Great job. Again, it sounds trivial, but just take a cursory look at some of the complaints on other dealers (such as JCFLM) and you will see time and time again that customers are getting screwed because dealers don't give a rat's behind about following up on the new plates. I was still anxious though because the low tire pressure warning light went on in my car. I had to drive back 50 miles to Jersey City. I told Jeff about it and asked if I could have someone from the service dept look at it. He spoke with Todd in the service dept and Todd was able to look at my tires. I didn't have an appt but they squeezed me in. I really appreciated this!!! Todd got my tires filled back up for me and didn't charge me a dime! These guys are great! Because of the great job Ditschman did, I am going to bring my Escape to them for my service work. I don't care if they are 50 miles from me. I'd rather drive 50 miles knowing I will not be screwed over then drive 3 miles knowing I could be screwed over. And when it comes time to purchase a new car, Ditschman will be my first stop. Ditschman has figured out the very simple, basic fact that if you treat customers fairly and do good work, the customer will return to do business with them. I don't think too many other dealers have figured this out. JCFLM certainly hasn't (how they stay in business is beyond me). I hope they never change their philosophy. By going to Ditschman instead of JCFLM to purchase my Escape, I saved a total of $770. Oh, and to top this all off, I just received a tin of chocolate chip cookies from Ditschman in the mail. Thanks, Ditschman -- they were delicious! More
I first had the opportunity to meet with Ed Havens back in December 2012. He was very thorough with the details on the Ford Escape and spent a good amout of time without rushing me. We took a test drive wi in December 2012. He was very thorough with the details on the Ford Escape and spent a good amout of time without rushing me. We took a test drive with the vehicle and I walked away feeling that this could be the place I want to do business. Everyone at this dealership was more than helpful. No pressure, which is what I like especially when making a major purchase. A couple of weeks went by and I was ready to proceed with the the purchase. I asked Ed if he could work up a different vehicle option, and to my surprise Ed had the exact Car I was looking for. After seeing him on monday to finalize all of the finite details, I told him I was ready to go with the deal. On the Day of the purchase, Ed was just as excited as I was. He helped me all through the process, could not have asked for a better salesman. Thanks Ed. More
All of the individuals above (Pete Chicarelli. Ray Wesley, Beth Delaney, Antonia Haddock) were wonderful to deal with and very professional. We were looking at a used Ford Edge on Friday 2/15 and at Wesley, Beth Delaney, Antonia Haddock) were wonderful to deal with and very professional. We were looking at a used Ford Edge on Friday 2/15 and at first could not agree on a price and the difference was $500. Ray was very professional and we parted on good terms. That weekend, I got several calls from Antonia and Beth trying to work out a way we can come to an agreement for us to purchase the car at a price that was mutually acceptable with a lower finance rate. After another call from Antonia on Monday we agreed to stop back in on Monday evening and discuss the vehicle. Pete and Ray worked hard to come to a mutually agreeable price and not only came down the $500 we were at a impass on before, but offered us some additional money on our trade. Beth was absolutely wonderful working through the financials for us and ensuring that we got to a payment we could afford even after adding the extended warranty and gap insurance she managed to stay within a budget we were happy with. They had the car already cleaned and ready for us and we were able to take it home that night. The next day which was really the first time we saw the car in the daylight, we realized that there was a crack in the windshield. Pete was very responsive and was on the phone immediately to have it replaced, which will occur today. I can't say enough about the four individuals above, they really did work with us and were professional, knowledgable and respectful during the entire process. I would recommend all of them to friends and family looking to purchase a used vehicle. More
Kevin Lawler was a pleasure to work with. He was friendly and patient, taking time to explain the car stats for each vehicle we were interested in. When we chose a vehicle, he took the time to prog friendly and patient, taking time to explain the car stats for each vehicle we were interested in. When we chose a vehicle, he took the time to program my phone, satelite radio, key pad, ipod, and explain all the new and exciting gadgets the vehicle offered. Although it appeared that he was quite busy when we arrived to pick up the vehicle, still he spent time with us, reviewing vehicle perks. It was a positive experience and I love my new/used vehicle. Kevin Hayden met us the day we bought the vehicle and the day we picked it up. He was careful to make sure we knew everything available to us for maintenance, financing and warranty. He did his homework to make sure we had the best financing rate available. When we pointed out an error in mileage on the paperwork, he quickly investigated and corrected the misprint. He was friendly and again, amiss a very busy day he took the time out to be cordial and give us his full attention. More
