They'll Give You a Good Deal, But Be Careful I'm happy with the Certified Pre-Owned 2010 Taurus that I bought at Classic Ford of Smithfield. They gave me a very good deal in terms of price and financing, arranged through a third party. So I would recommend this dealership, but be careful with them as you would with any dealership and with any purchase as large as a car. When I went to sign the financing, the paperwork was drawn up for a monthly payment $10 higher than what was agreed upon. When I complained they fixed that and I signed for the agreed upon payment, but neither the interest rate nor the price of the car had been changed. I suspect that the dealership was trying to skim something from the financing, which is a common tactic for car dealers to use, so watch that. Also, I was promised a check for $300 to make the deal that day but I had trouble getting the check. After more than a month, and after several calls and e-mails, I went to the dealership in person and waited until they gave me the check. They had experienced a changeover in sales management, true enough, but I should not have had to do all of that to get what was promised. But ultimately it is about the car and the deal you get, and on that score I have no complaints. So Classic Ford of Smithfield is a good place to buy a car but you need to be careful as you would with any car dealership. More

True Professionalism at Classic Ford of Smithfield Recently my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Classic Ford of Smithfield to purchase a 2014 Ford Escape. Initially, we had come to look at the SE model, but after test driving the Escape Titanium model...we fell in love with the vehicle. Our salesman, Sidney Lowe, was the true definition of an exceptional sales person. Very friendly and professional, Sidney never made us feel like there was any pressure to purchase a vehicle or a particular model; talking with us like we were old friends as opposed to any high pressure sales. His knowledge of the vehicle was top-notch and he walked us through the features before and after the test drive. Sidney made us feel very comfortable and really made the purchasing of a new vehicle an enjoyable experience. We also had the pleasure of working with Nicole Rountree in the financing of the vehicle. My wife and I have both had credit challenges in the past and were a bit unsure of our creditworthiness in regards to qualifying for the Titanium model. Without going into the whole detailed story....Nicole WORKED STRENUOUSLY to get us approved for the loan. She made several calls to different lenders and found one who was able to work with us on a joint loan. I cannot begin to emphasize how PROFESSIONAL Nicole was in working with us. She truly exemplifies the standard in which all automotive dealerships should try to achieve in their personnel. In closing, I would just like to say how impressed my wife and I were with Sidney and Nicole. It is people like this that every automotive dealership should strive to hire and keep!! They both were true professionals and at the same time were very friendly and courteous, balancing the attitude between friendliness and professionalism perfectly. I would highly recommend Classic Ford to everyone I know and especially recommend Sidney and Nicole. These two individuals deserve all the success that I am sure they will achieve in their respective careers. More

Helped a traveller in need My family and I were heading South from NY to visit my mother's farm in FL. We left with both of our kids and dogs (one elderly and one puppy) in our large E-150 conversion van. Sadly, our infirm older dog passed when we stopped to visit friends in VA. After a big cry we wrapped him up in a shroud and continued on our trip to lay him to rest on the farm. According to Murphy's law, disaster struck near Smithfield, NC when a belt separated from a tire causing me to notice a significant amount of fluid coating the rear wheel well. With no interest in putting my family in harms way I went searching for help. Of course this was a Sunday night, so nobody was available to help us and this squarely put us outside of a reasonable timeline for getting our dog into the ground. After a call to a funeral director friend I made a trip to Walmart to get a cooler and ice buying us more time. First thing Monday morning I had the entire crew at the Classic Ford service department. I didn't disclose our dog situation to avoid freaking anyone out and it turned out that wasn't necessary. After explaining that I needed to get back on the road the service team jumped into action. They got my van onto a rack and had it diagnosed within 90 minutes as a bad tire and faulty bearings (which fouled the brakes too). The bearings had been wearing the axle for quite a while so we thought a new axle might be in order too. Rick, our technician, suggested a special offset bearing might both save money and expedite the repair so we gave it a shot. I worked with the parts desk to get everything to the shop in time for all repairs to get completed before the end of day. Thankfully, the offset bearing worked, we got new tires and brakes and were on our way before 4:00 in the afternoon. While the team knew we were in a rush, they didn't know the extent of our urgency or reason for it and they still did everything they could to get us on the road fast. My sincerest thanks goes to that team for helping my family out and getting me to FL so my best friend of 14 years could get laid to rest in peace. More
