We've had a battery draw issue on our 2021 Honda Odyssey since we purchased it new. It has left us stranded 10+ times and we've resorted to carrying a jump starter. The van has only been serviced by Classic since we purchased it new. It has left us stranded 10+ times and we've resorted to carrying a jump starter. The van has only been serviced by Classic Honda since new. We had a battery replaced under warranty at ~2.5 years. ~2.5 years later, the battery was determined to be bad again after testing good 4 weeks prior. The service department said everything with the electrical system tested fine and charged us $350 to replace the battery a second time in ~5 years. They did wave the $25 install fee, but said that since the first battery was replaced under warranty previously, that this new battery was not covered via a warranty, but if we paid to replace it, then the new new one would be under warranty and said when this new one goes bad prematurely it could be replaced at no cost. To me it seems in bad faith to not stand behind a replacement with the same warranty. It's very disappointing that a Honda Service Department cannot find a clear issue with a van that they have serviced since new. It's also disappointing that a battery failed prematurely and it was not replaced under warranty. It's additionally disappointing that the service department all agreed that this was not normal and that there was an issue, but they could not find it and the only solution was to keep replacing batteries (and paying for every other one) and carrying a jump starter. It was not offered to escalate this through Honda or past the Service Manager. I regret our goodwill of paying a higher cost to add a hitch and to replace struts, pinch sensors, brakes at this dealer once the van was out of warranty thinking that the goodwill would be returned. In hindsight we should have saved the money on those items and went to an independent shop. I'm really torn on a 1 star vs. 2 star review. Everyone was nice and professional throughout all of our interactions so I will leave a 2 star review even though the experience was not "fair" per the 2 star description. More
