Typical car salesman operation, adds items to your quote you don't ask for, if you tell them take it off they say the manager would have to raise the price. Shady and probably illegal. First time buying fro you don't ask for, if you tell them take it off they say the manager would have to raise the price. Shady and probably illegal. First time buying from this dealer and would not recommend to anyone. More
Called an employee named Devin who instructed me to bring in my fathers death certificate So I could sell my the car. The car was bought from this dealership. I now live in Michigan, so I booked a trip down in my fathers death certificate So I could sell my the car. The car was bought from this dealership. I now live in Michigan, so I booked a trip down to Dallas with the intention of selling the car. I attempt to set up an appointment to sell it and now I am being told they don't have interest. I flew all the way from Michigan, after being told by Devin to bring my car in, and now they are telling me they won't buy it. It is difficult to have worse experience than this. I truly mean this, buy or sell a car from any other group that you can. This is a pathetic way to practice business. If there was a 0 star option I would choose that. More
Bait & Switch I'll tell you the truth, you decide 4 yourself Here is exactly what the mailer said that prompted me to visit Clay Cooley, VW today (8-15-20). You judge as to weather it is a Bait & Switch situatio Here is exactly what the mailer said that prompted me to visit Clay Cooley, VW today (8-15-20). You judge as to weather it is a Bait & Switch situation. "Volkswagen ordered us to buy back specific pre-owned Volkswagens and your Eos qualifies for their program. Regardless of condition William, I must purchase your Eos and will pay you top dollar! $8,207++ This Saturday, You Will Receive An Additional $4,566++ More For Your Eos! Plus I Will Give You $1,000+ this Saturday." The mailer goes on about a $5,000 giveaway & a $10 Target gift card just for showing up on the 15th, which was never offered to me. They have all my personal information so they should send it to me in the mail. They really should have offered it to everyone as we walked in. I also got a phone message from Natalie @ Clay Cooley, with the big news of the special Sat. sales event & how they "would have several buyers on site to compete with each other to pay top dollar for your trade". The blow hard sales manager told me he was the only one making offers on trades today. When I arrived on Saturday, I was handed off to a couple of different salesmen. One of the first things I asked my final salesman, Mike, was if the $4,566 offered in the mailer I received would come off of the MSRP or come off after the Clay Cooley discount which was shown on their website. Mike told me, in no uncertain terms, that it would come off "at the end" of the deal. Little did I know, 4 hours later, that the $4,566 was a myth & was never going to be honored. So initially I was led to believe that I would get $8,207 for my Eos trade + $4,566 additional for my Eos + $1,000 extra for showing up on Sat. All this was in writing on the mailer which they took away from me right away. Luckily I made a copy of it so I can send it to the federal Trade Commission. In addition, I would have had to ask for $500 for being a firefighter & $500 for filling out an online form good for today only plus the $10 target card & the chance to win the $5,000 giveaway if my number (821015) was picked as the winner. Because I was told by the sales manager it was my responsibility to double check with him on any information given to me by any of his sales staff because he said they "were wrong and hadn't been selling cars very long"! After 4 hours of waiting to locate the car I wanted I finally got an offer to consider on an Atlas, at a lot in Oklahoma, from Brian Jackson the "manager of new car sales" (he doesn't like to be called a used car salesman but his fancy title sure doesn't keep him from acting like the stereotypical one). I let "Jackson" know exactly what I thought of his low ball offer of less than half of what I was led to expect! He offered $4,000 for my trade & $2,000 as a discount from Clay Cooley. Go look on their website & you will see, as I did, that all the Atlas's have at least a $4,000 discount. The one I wanted had a $5,844 discount on it & he offered $2,000! "Jackson" started coming up with every excuse he could think of to explain how wrong I was in my interpretation of the mailer and called me a liar to my face when I read his own mailer to him to show him how I expected $13,733 (the bait) on my trade & how displeased I was in his offer of (the switch) $4,000! He brought up the condition of my car when the mailer clearly states "regardless of condition". He told me he would have to keep it on the lot too long. He had a lot of used car salesman type excuses. He finally offered me $6,000 for my Eos as he held the door open & waved me out of the showroom because he didn't want the other customers there to hear my complaints. He then tried to make me feel like the bad guy because I wasn't appreciative of his $6,000 offer by talking over me with a loud "NOBODY IN THE COUNTRY WILL GIVE YOU THAT MUCH FOR YOUR CAR!" I asked, "then why did you advertise that you would?" I finally had to ask for my keys again as I guess he wasn't going to offer them up, like everything else, without me asking. What a wretched experience! I hate being manipulated, taken advantage of and lied to especially by a lower, mid-management paper pusher who makes a living trying to take advantage of little old ladies like the one whom I spoke with on her way out of the dealership complaining of the same Bait & Switch feeling she had from dealing with the people there at Clay Cooley, VW of Richardson, TX! This is for you too Ma'am. I hope we didn't get Covid while being held hostage for 4 hours! We won't be using the service dept. there any longer & I will be spreading the bad news that Clay Cooley is the stereotypical car dealership that gives other car dealerships a bad name. More
