We had the catalytic replaced last week and next day after the repair a code popped-up and the car sounded like a diesel vehicle. A mechanic friend suggested taking it back and so happens that there were several parts not tightened properly. Today the sound was minimal but the vehicle still makes a wheezing sound. Somehow after the service people changed the battery they must have not looked and the service requisition and they didn’t even mentioned a thing to me at checkout only that they replaced the battery. I take this car here because it’s Toyota... More

Car given back in worse shape than when brought in Trunk lock broken, had hoped dealership could fix it. Prior to bringing it in, a young man nearby had helped me secure the trunk on the inside by crawling into it from the rear passenger seat area and tying plastic bags that I had roped together into tight knots, looping the roped-up bags around the broken lock. There was no secure way to keep the door down on the outside that I could think of at the time, prior to bringing it to Coggin. I left the back seat collapsed to allow re-entry into the trunk if necessary to add more secure knots or even to (hopefully) fix it. It was explained to me at Coggin Toyota that they are not equipped to fix my broken trunk lock. I would have to take the car to a body shop to fix the lock. They'd had to cut apart the plastic bags to examine the problem, which I certainly understand. What I do not understand is that they didn't re-secure the trunk from the inside once they determined the job needed to be done by a collision repair shop. I found they had pushed the back seat up into proper position instead of leaving it collapsed, thus preventing re-entry into the trunk from the passenger back-seat area in order to secure the trunk door from the inside. Instead, the car was returned to me with the trunk door taped down with masking tape, in addition to being unsecured on the inside. At first, I thought they were joking. Masking tape? It was raining, and I was absolutely terrified that the flimsy masking tape would loosen from all the moisture and then come off on my way home. ' I wanted the service folks to go into the trunk and secure it from the inside, which is the way I'd brought it in -- secured on the inside. I even explained how it could be done: they'd have to cut the masking tape, open the trunk door, push the back-seat collapse buttons, then enter the trunk from the back passenger seating area and tie knots with any material that could be roped together. But they refused to do it and walked away, citing liability. Liability for what, I don't know. I just wanted my car back the same way I'd brought it in. I had to drive home with my heart in my mouth, crying and so afraid the trunk would fly open in the rain, blocking the rear view, not to mention getting a traffic ticket. So I drove home as slowly as I dared, constantly harassed by impatient and aggressive drivers around me. It was nerve-wracking. When I got home (safely, thank God), I cut up all the Coggin masking tape, opened the trunk, then collapsed the back seats using the push-buttons located just under the trunk door. Then I went around and entered the car through the rear passenger door on the right and crawled into the trunk myself to secure the door from the inside, using two zip ties. There's no reason they couldn't have done that for me, instead of letting me risk a dangerous drive home with the trunk door secured only by that flimsy masking tape. When I had driven to the dealership to see if they could fix it, I hadn't taken any rope or wire or plastic bags with me to gerry-rig a second secure closure for the trunk door. I had mistakenly assumed that the dealership would be able to fix the lock, or if not, they would at least have all sorts of things to utilize to secure the trunk again, and not send me home with just that light and insubstantial paper tape -- in the pouring rain. Wondering how many other ladies pushing 70 they've thrown under the bus like that. However, I do appreciate not having been charged. More
