One reason was that it was a car that needed to be ordered and this particular line of Golf's only is sold at list price, so there was no negotiation. But I kept waiting for something to go wrong, or someone to try to trick me, or something to go wrong (because that is what I feel like always happens with dealers), but it didn't happen. These guys were honest, responsive, and did everything they said they would do. Very happy. More

The experience at all the other dealerships was always negative, like of you weren't paying attention, you would pay an extra 1000. Here both the salesman and the general manager were friendly, but also straightforward. No tricks, car was thoroughly detailed. No complaints! More
Clumsy. Not Customer/Prospect Focused. Selfish! Colonial VW Medford is the least customer -facing an customer need Car Dealership I've ever encountered. HOWEVR they have my ETERNAL GRATITDUE for be Colonial VW Medford is the least customer -facing an customer need Car Dealership I've ever encountered. HOWEVR they have my ETERNAL GRATITDUE for being so wholly focused upon what THEY WANTED/REQUIRED versus MY NEEDS, even when they offered, at the time, the lowest quote. I scheduled a test drive for a 2016 GTI 6-speed with Tito. I arrived on Sat Aug 27. Tito was very pleasant, but he immediately handed me off to Quentin my "Sales" person who was equally pleasant and gracious. Quentin & I went for a drive. I was happy/impressed. Once back at the Colonial VW Dealership, it was time to discuss price on the specific GTI I had driven. It was a "simple" deal ($14K-$17K cash, $1K credit card, remainder financed).Quentin went to a Manager & 5-10 mins later returned. The quote was $23,049.94 "out-the-door" (incl Tax,Dealer Fee, Title/Tag/Reg). I literally took my credit card out. However, everything "froze" when I indicated it would take 4-5 Biz Days to have the $14K-$17K wired into my Checking Acct. Quentin got a Manager Josh Jeffres who was also very pleasant. Josh's first remark "I didn't know we even had any 2-door GTI's in stock" was off-putting (A Manager who doesn't know his inventory?). I didn't respond. My purchase was literally a done deal. However, Josh was adamant that it HAD TO BE AN AUGUST SALE. I explained that I had zero control over the transfer of cash to my Checking Acct, that I didn't know my liquidity in the Acct the funds were being transferred from, & that it always took 4-5 Biz Days. This was unacceptable to Josh, even though I had my credit card on the table. He warned of "Incentives" being dropped at the end of the month, I HAD TO BUY IN AUGUST (Incentives? None existed on a GTI! VW was going to pull any DEALER-different from CUSTOMER-INCENTIVE leading into the Sept Labor Day Sales Event? Unlikely). Due to my enthusiasm for the car, I engaged in several different possible means by which I could possibly succumb to Colonial VW/Josh's absolute dictate. We discussed a down-payment with my card card & then financing the balance owed, & then paying off the entire balance when I got the cash transferred into my checking account. We discussed a credit card, some funds that were in my checking account, & then financing the balance. A jumbled mess. MORE CRITICALLY, It was ALL about WHAT Colonial VW & Josh were demanding! Did I care about Colonial VW's "August Sales Numbers"..YES, as much I do a grain of sand on a beach in Sri Lanka. Josh actually let me walk out of Colonial with the promise that I would call my finance guy on Mon Aug 29th & see what could be done expediently to get the funds by Wed Aug 31st. I didn't make the call on Monday. I decided to wait until Sept 1st. When I made the call, I was surprised to find out that I had sufficient funds that could be wired immediately without having to sell anything in my portfolio. Had I called on Mon Aug 29th, the Colonial VW car would be in my driveway. I decided to call Wellesley VW "a sister" Dealer to Colonial VW. They dropped the price on Sept 1st to $22,840 "out the door". I was SOLD. However, I also called Minuteman VW, and by "days" end---I hadn't considered Minuteman because no 2 door GTI's were in stock---they had agreed to source and swap for a 2 door GTI, and the price? $500 lower than the Wellesley price. I bought from Minuteman immediately & I only ever dealt with one person, Timmy Pullo. As for Colonial and Josh, the GTI I was on the verge of buying, is still on their lot. I wish to thank Josh profusely for being so blindingly focused upon his absolute WANT/NEED/DICTATE! Thank you Josh, you saved me $700.00!! It's a sorry circumstance when a price is agreed to, the Dealer is honoring it, yet they place their WANTS/NEEDS/DICTATES ahead of the Customer. But, that is Colonial VW Medford. Pathetic. More
