We apologize for your experience in finding the vehicle of your choice. Unfortunately, there is a required minimum tax that by Illinois law we are required to charge customers. For example: If you were purchasing from Continental Toyota and lived outside of our county of Cook, living in a non-Cook County, the minimum required charge is 7.25%. It is a misconception to simply state you are charged the tax for the county you live in, not where you buy. We are glad you found what you were looking for.

Don't give me your completely phony apology. Being the victim of your abusive, nasty, condescending treatment your apology is a deceptive guise, a pathetic attempt to hide your true nature. Your cleverly worded, slick response avoids addressing the REAL issue -- your brazen, deceptive, underhanded action of increasing an agreed upon price! Your clear disrespect, abuse & condescending demeanor was beyond disgusting. You do not possess the most basic integrity to complete the deal at the price agreed upon. And, Miglio, you did so on not just a verbal quote, but one confirmed n an email from salesman Dean Rio, and one negotiated between the Costco Auto program and your dealership. You also, Joe Miglio, who no doubt wrote this reply, as you write every reply to reviews on your dealrship, but misleadingly labelled it as a reply from "Continental Toyota", with no name at all. You thought you'd remain anonymous to the readers. How short-sighted and foolish, when my whole review is almost entirely a scathing description of the nasty, abusive treatment you piled on me, which was a defiant refusal to honor the an already agreed upon price. I should point out that before you pulled the price increase, you were already $100 more than other Costco Auto dealers offered to me, but were obviously too cheap to match it. You knew that Costco was searching for this color car with no added options, so you thought you had everyone by their scalp. Whatever negotiations Costco had to go through to get you to the agreed upon price, Costco wouldn't discuss with me, & that basically gave me the message you were not easy to deal with. What a perfect example Continental is of a car sales shark operation. Miglio, why don't you drop out of the Costco Auto Program? You want the maximum you can get, so sell them on your own to the ignorant & malleable car shoppers, which is who you want as customers. The main point is this: you reneged on an agreed upon price, and demanded a new price or told me I could go somewhere else. This is dishonesty at its height.. Then, you post this nonsense of a response that avoids addressing your shady dealings, & rather cleverly twist the whole issue around the 0.25% Cook County tax I deigned to question. Further, your Salesman Rio was so immature and unprofessional, that his reaction to simply a questioning of a tax that I could not find anything about, which was to react with unwarranted anger, yelling at me, & his infantile hanging up on me. Then he refused to answer his phone, or return normal messages I left him, asking him to kindly return the call, as I wanted this transaction to be done, where I stated I would pay the 0.25% tax, taking his word that this was correct. I then found out that crooked Cook County levied a tax they should never have been approved by the legislature, so they could put their dirty hands in the cookie jar & get something out of car buyers whose only tax, by Illinois law, is based on the tax rate of the buyer's county. Finally, it needs to be pointed out that you did not return Costco Auto Program's calls to you all day Monday, with your operators apparently instructed to say you were "in a meeting," when you KNEW that I was paying $40 a day for a rental car. Thus, your unavailability on an issue you knew needed to be resolved that morning, but you couldn't be bothered to return my calls, or Costco's calls until late in the afternoon, as you knew that would make it too late for me to travel the considerable distance to your dealership and complete the transaction before you closed on Monday night, which was YOUR self-imposed deadline. Costco then told you an extension was in order, and you agreed to extend saving the car for me until close on Weds. However, you then later called Costco back on Monday, and said the car was sold! What a deceitful and unconscionable act! You didn't know it, but if a person has the VIN number of the car, they can call Toyota's Customer Service and they are able to see when that car was sold in their system. Toyota was able to see that you sold the car on Monday, VIOLATING your agreement to hold it until Wednesday. Now, readers, consider all I have revealed here, along with my review, and you will have to conclude that Joe Miglio and Continental Toyota are totally irreputable, and should be avoided at all costs.
