On 6/26/26, I had my car towed from my typical mechanic to David McDavid Honda (DMD), hoping that they could handle what I thought were some more specialized repairs. I didn't have to be there for DMD to a to David McDavid Honda (DMD), hoping that they could handle what I thought were some more specialized repairs. I didn't have to be there for DMD to accept the car, we did that part over the phone. After a couple of hours, they gave me their suggested repairs. Overall, they suggested $8,300 in repairs (that included $200 diagnostic fee). A lot of that was suggestions that didn't need done, but they said that the critical repairs were replacement of the Throttle Body at $1,435 and the upstream O2 sensor at $721 (a total of 2,518 after tax). I thought it was kind of high, so I did a little math. The tax that they showed was $127. This can only be on parts, not labor, so at 8.25% taxes in Texas, that would mean that they were charging me $1,540 for parts. When I look online for OEM parts, I can only find $700 in parts (Throttle Body for 2006 Honda Accord | OEM Parts Online, 2013-2017 Honda Accord Oxygen Sensor 36532-5A2-305 | OEM Parts Online) I am not sure where they came up with their amount, but it's double the most expensive parts I can find online. So, if they are charging $1,540 for parts, then they must be charging $851 for labor (2,518 total – 1,540 for parts – 127 for taxes). When talking to the advisor about something, he mentioned that the tech had input 2.5 hours for the repair. So the hourly rate would have been 340 per hour if that was the case. Or, if it was a reasonable hourly charge of maybe $225, then they are guessing it would take 3.75 hrs. Either way, that makes no sense. When I realized that the cost were so high without knowing if the repairs would fix the overall issue, I decided to do the work myself. I told them I would pick up my car that afternoon. They gave a lot of pushback about the car being in a bay and being taken apart. First, the car isn't in a bay. They wouldn't have a bay blocked with a car if they could put other cars in that bay to make money. That's just a lie. And then the car couldn't be taken apart because they had to move it to storage. So again, a like. When I told the advisor that I was going to pay the diagnostic fee and take my car back, he said that the diagnostic fee did not cover putting the car back together. Another lie. If they had tested the car, taken a part off, found no issue, they would put the car back together. The diagnostic fee covers returning the car to it's original state. I figure he was trying to protect his commission rather than helping me fix my car. On top of that, I had notified them that the O2 sensor had been unplugged by my mechanic I normally used to get the car to actually start and run and asked if they had plugged it back in. He told me that making sure all parts are plugged in is a part of the normal procedure, so of course it was plugged in. When I got the car back and went to see about replacing the O2 sensor, it was unplugged. That's the 4th lie that they told me. So, be careful using David McDavid. None of this experience was accurate, honest, or correct. If this isn't normal for them, then why did they single me out? Did they see an old car and they wanted to turn it into a cash cow? I don't know, but make sure to check their math. For me, none of it made sense. More

I have brought the car in with several problems. Asked them to check the battery because keep getting a warning. They didn't. Now my car died on me less than 2 weeks. Later at a critical time.
