Anthony, At Villa Ford of Orange, we utilize a large, desk-mounted tablet system called DocuPad for the electronic signing of your purchase documents. Both you and the Finance Manager electronically signed your respective portions of the paperwork through this system. The process is completed in-house, and the system allows you to view each document and signature as the paperwork is being completed. We utilize this technology, in part, to provide transparency and ensure that all parties have the opportunity to review the documents before signing. We understand that there can sometimes be confusion regarding the terminology used in vehicle purchase documentation. For legal and regulatory purposes, what is commonly referred to as an “extended warranty” is identified in the paperwork as a “service contract.” It is possible that this terminology contributed to the misunderstanding. That said, the service contract you referenced was cancelled promptly after you contacted us, and the applicable balance was refunded. Unfortunately, this is not a case of misunderstanding. I explicitly declined any add on warranties. Yet, one was still added without my consent. And the one that was added was never mention or discussed in any way by the finance manager. Adding in the fact that my signature appears markedly different on that part of the contract (and that part only), this appears to be fraudulent. But, I will let the police investigation determine that.
