I was a very loyal Toyota customer; thought I would drive Toyotas until I die after having my Prius V for the last 11 years. Had plenty of time to be sure about what I wanted next! Was a supporter of Desert Toyotas until I die after having my Prius V for the last 11 years. Had plenty of time to be sure about what I wanted next! Was a supporter of Desert Toyota for years and super happy with their service team, even providing them a pizza party once when they fixed my car! However, Mike N in sales undid all that in a hurry! If you actually enjoy the classic shady car-salesman experience, you might have a different experience here - Not for me: In February I took my beloved Prius V in to trade for a brand new RAV4 Hybrid, pre-approved financing up to 75K, didn't even shop around, knew exactly what I wanted, went straight to Desert Toyota and said "sell me a car." We agreed on a trade in price (VERY first thing we did on Feb 17 since they had it there in the shop already), ordered exactly what we wanted from the factory, paid $1k deposit, got the official price sheet, waited 6 weeks for it to arrive(they barely have any actual inventory), and left my Prius with them. Apr5, we went to sign the paperwork and drive new RAV4 home with my whole family! Excited! As we waited an hour to sign the paperwork, the manager, Mike N. comes in and wants to redo what they had already agreed on in February for trade-in cost to scrape a thousand dollars off me at the last possible minute since they figured I was "all in." Wait - what?!? Im here to spend 50K and you want to make me wait around for an hour while you try to re-figure my trade in price we'd agreed on 6 weeks before? Its been in their possession since this all started, they worked on it, inspected it, know everything there is to know about it....And now you want to change what we already agreed to, at the last minute when I think we're about to sign and leave? At that moment, he tried to cut my trade-in by more than half! I tried to say this was already done and agreed to with a manager in February, but Mike just wanted to debate and argue, didn't listen. I gathered up my family and walked away. Mike N was the most disrespectful unprofessional sales manager I've ever experienced - saying my beloved Prius V is only worth pennies and trying to make a case for why it was ok to cut our agreed on price by more than half - is this a strategy that actually works?!? I can't imagine treating customers like that in my business. I walked away because of the games and disrespect. Completely shady car salesman move. He chased us out to our car and then tried to honor the original agreement from February but no, thanks, you played your cards. Ironically, their service foreperson ended up paying me cash for it since I wasn't trading it in after crossing paths with Mike. So its worth pennies eh? Your service foreperson is going to love it Mike! Good Work! He obviously understood the value there, and saved my Prius V from auction - I am grateful for that. After they called Subaru their "little brother" I guess we'll go spend our 50K there. If thats the way they want to do business and sell cars its not the place for me, and Mike N helped me understand very quickly that it was foolish to be so loyal to Toyota and think they'd take care of me "hassle-free." I was 110% confident that I was buying a Toyota in February from this dealer; Mike and Nick blew it completely nickel and dime-ing me at the last second. I could see that they run this play all the time on people, and I refuse to buy a car from a dealer that plays games like this, after I showed up "all in" on my loyalty and made it clear I wanted to buy a car from them. Buyer beware if you have to interact with Mike N when trying to finalize a sale. They don't care about your loyalty or your time! This is not the way a car dealer should ever do business. Mike showed me they didn't care about me near half as much as I cared about them, and as an excited customer, his move undid years of enthusiastic love for Toyota. More
Hector (in used car sales) made promises that were blatantly disregarded once I got to finance. Everything he showed me and told me was a lie in the end. Toyota is one of the best cars on the road. Th blatantly disregarded once I got to finance. Everything he showed me and told me was a lie in the end. Toyota is one of the best cars on the road. Their standards in sales should match the quality of vehicle. I feel like I've been robbed and I feel dirty like I just dealt with the 1.5 star used car dealership on some random corner. More

A Desert Toyota Cautionary Tale: my old Toyota 4-Runner recently had its power-brake booster fail, and so I had it towed to Desert Toyota for service. After inspection, they informed me that the price for recently had its power-brake booster fail, and so I had it towed to Desert Toyota for service. After inspection, they informed me that the price for repair would be about $2000! This exorbitant amount was mostly due to the price they were charging for the part, over $1400. I said I was not willing to pay that much and asked if they could do the repair with an after-market, non-Toyota, part. They told me they could, but would not warranty the work in that case. I opted for that solution, since my vehicle was not safe to drive anywhere else. Well, their Parts Department "managed" to find me an after-market part for $778, a little more than half of the jacked-up price of the genuine Toyota part. I was not happy, but was pressed to get the vehicle fixed, and so had the repair completed with this less-exorbitantly priced part. I'm now very remorseful: a quick call to a nearby autoparts store found multiple boosters for my vehicle in stock at $379.99 each. Also, after a closer examination of my bill, I discovered that Desert Toyota charges a "credit card transaction fee," which in this case amounted to $30. I was never informed that I was being charged a fee to use my credit card, and if I had been, I would have made other arrangements. And on top of all of that, my bill included an hour of labor for replacing the master brake cylinder -- the master brake cylinder must be removed to replace the brake booster, and so no additional labor is required. I challenged this part of my bill and the hour's worth of labor was removed, but why do I have to have a little knowledge about vehicles to keep from being overcharged? I've been a Desert Toyota customer for over a decade, and have now concluded that I've been too trusting, and that, this last time at least, I was taken advantage of. Bottom line: anyone should be very watchful if they decide to do business with Desert Toyota. More
