DISHONEST TACTICS. POOR COMMUNICATION. AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY. I came to Downey Hyundai after receiving a quote from them through TrueCar for a Hyundai Elantra at a c POOR COMMUNICATION. AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY. I came to Downey Hyundai after receiving a quote from them through TrueCar for a Hyundai Elantra at a competitive out-the-door price. When I arrived, I was told the price was "incorrect," despite the fact that I confirmed the same list price on multiple platforms. I was told the price was more than $4k what I was quoted. The salesperson acknowledged the discrepancy, said he’d speak with a manager to see if they could honor the quote, and promised to follow up. During the visit, he even remarked, “If I were you and they honored that price, I’d take it and resell the car immediately for a profit.” That stuck with me, because less than 24 hours later, I was told the vehicle had suddenly “sold” within two hours of my visit and the dealership closing for the day. Was it ever really available at that price? Hard to say. But what followed speaks volumes. I never heard back from the original salesperson. No manager called to explain. My texts and emails went unanswered. When I called the dealership, I was left on hold for long stretches, as if they were scrambling to align their story. Eventually, someone I hadn’t spoken to before gave me the "consolation prize" of a generic quote on a completely different car with higher mileage and a higher price. There was no acknowledgment of the original situation and not even a basic apology from the parties involved. Despite all this, I was still willing to work with them on a fair deal for the second car in good faith, based on the original quote. But they made no effort to engage. No flexibility, no communication. Just a lazy, tone-deaf quote that made it clear they didn’t value my time or my business. This felt like a textbook bait-and-switch followed by complete silence and evasiveness. If you're looking for transparency, professionalism, or even basic customer respect, this is not the place. It honestly felt like they didn’t want my money, and they certainly didn’t earn it. More
