I did not have a great experience at Downtown Subaru. I’ve been coming for years and always felt well-treated but this time got talked into doing the 90,000 mile service 11,000 miles early. It didn’t mak I’ve been coming for years and always felt well-treated but this time got talked into doing the 90,000 mile service 11,000 miles early. It didn’t make sense to me at the time but I went with it, only to find out the service is mostly just replacing a bunch of fluids. Why would I want to do that early when I could get more mileage out of the fluids that I already have, according to Subaru’s own service standards? Sam gave me a small discount and Patrick later gave me another small discount when I talked with him about my concerns, but it didn’t cover the total cost of all the unnecessary work I’ve had done. I was also troubled by the fact that the sheet Sam gave me was for the 60,000 mile service, not the 90,000 mile service I was supposed to be getting. I noticed this after signing the paperwork and told him, and he said not to worry about it. This kind of poor communication and hurried service erodes my trust. I need time to understand the exact services that I’m going to receive and evidence of what was performed, for my records and to make sure that I’m keeping my car in good working order. Now I’m unsure if I’ll need to get the whole 90,000 service done again in 10,000 miles, at great expense. And my trust in Downtown Subaru is at an all-time low. In the past I’ve felt confident that I could go to Subaru dealers and pay a premium to not have to worry about the care or my car or that I might be getting taken advantage of. That is no longer my feeling. I’m getting my brakes changed right now at a local shop - I’d be happy to pay more at the dealer if I had confidence that I will be treated well and steered right, but I don’t have that confidence in Downtown Subaru at this point.
