Never a good experience. Seems like the actual service work is good but the business practices are awful. Free shuttle to work was actually a $12 cab. Covered by service agreement but two people still tri work is good but the business practices are awful. Free shuttle to work was actually a $12 cab. Covered by service agreement but two people still tried to charge me. Paperwork says "$0" and they say "$179." Had to register twice as they confused VIN numbers. There are better dealers out there! We went to subaru oakland for three reasons. 1) I was given an online estimate for my audi trade-in of $12-$15k and was immediately notified by Austin, the VIP sales manager, that he would pay more than given an online estimate for my audi trade-in of $12-$15k and was immediately notified by Austin, the VIP sales manager, that he would pay more than the high end of that range and 2) the website for subaru oakland guarantees no haggle prices and an in-and-out in 1-hour experience, 3) we found a car we wanted to trade in for and were told it would be available but it 'was sold 2 hours prior' and nobody bothered to let me know. I was greeted by Junior who informed me that the car I had been waiting to see had be sold. He tried to put me in a far inferior car before handing me off to Richard Polk. Richard was really nice but refused to tell me how much they would offer me for my trade in until I picked a car from subaru. This should have been a red flag but I figured that I had in writing from Austin (who isn't even on the staff webpage) that he would give me more than $15k for my trade in so I looked around, test drove a car, and started paperwork. We had to do a hard credit inquiry before they valued my trade in which is pretty messed up. By this point we're about 45 minutes into my appointment with my husband and 4 year old there as well. I was offered $9k for my trade in and haggled down to $31k for the new car (what happened to no haggling?). We're at the hour mark. I explain that this must be a mistake because the website told me $12-$15k and then Austin specifically said more than $15k. Austin comes in and says the best he can do is $11k. He goes to 'talk to someone' and says he can do $12k for the trade in and the car is $42k. My husband and I immediately get up to leave. He pretends to be shocked, asks us to wait so he can 'clear it up' (why he didn't just look at the xxxx paperwork right then and there only proves how awful he is). He comes back and says $31k for the car, $12k for the trade-in. We're now 2 hours in, have a hard inquiry on our credit, and I'm absolutely pissed off but we agree. We're then led to Abdul's office. Abdul Ferozy is having me sign all this paperwork and insisting I do not add dates to anything. He also refuses to give me copies of anything I've signed. Moreover, he tries to sell us a maintenance add-on which we adamantly refuse. He claims that if we don't get the car serviced by Subaru, all warrantees and guarantees are void (don't worry, I've already reported him to the FTC for this - it's illegal). He keeps coming back to me refusing it and calls me everything but an idiot. My husband ends up getting close to walking out of the deal because this man is being such a jerk. We're in hour 4 of this whole xxxx transaction, I was swindled on my trade in, harassed and threatened by a finance guy, and walk away with a new car that isn't even what I wanted with a very hungry toddler. About 10 days later, I get an email from Melissa Schaum, the customer service and retention manager. She is telling me that if I give a 100% review I will get 2 gift cards adding up to $100 in the mail, if I give a 90% review I will only get one gift card in the mail and if I give anything less than 90% Richard, the sales guy, would lose 1/3 of his salary. I responded saying that I don't respond well to extortion and I don't want to give a bogus review due to bribery. She claims she'll send me a single gift card anyway but I'm not holding my breath. My sales person sped through the terms and lied to me about the maintenance program. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2013 and I had a very slimy transaction. about the maintenance program. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2013 and I had a very slimy transaction. More
I bought a new car from Downtown Toyota. I had went in for a service on my existing auto and the sales team called me about a trade in. I was thinking about it and went in for the appointment. The offer for a service on my existing auto and the sales team called me about a trade in. I was thinking about it and went in for the appointment. The offer was great, and I decided to upgrade. The sales team was good. I feel like the finance manager was a little too pushy with offering to purchase a service agreement for my car and just would not take no as an answer. I was almost about to cancel the deal. I also had to call back to the dealership a few times and their customer service on the phone leaves a little to be desired. If we are doing business, no matter who I get on the phone you are the company, but some of them do not get that, and there were bad at returning calls. I have yet to get a call back from the finance manager. More
