A Itsy bitsy puncture had created much frustration , the Oakland Subaru team was familiar with the situation! Took a while to find the gem and then repaired the tire so it was good again! As usual whenever I bring in my car for regular service I get it courteously and efficiently and conveniently from Kevin Goh. This time your very fine staff also noticed a small leak & radiator cap problem, get it courteously and efficiently and conveniently from Kevin Goh. This time your very fine staff also noticed a small leak & radiator cap problem, ordered parts. I came back the next week, and everything was completed. Kevin even helped me with a drivers seat adjustment problem I had failed to mention on prior visits. He did so in his efficiently professional manner without unduly delaying other customers in the busy service center. I left feeling grateful and uplifted (which seems to be the demeanor of other customers I observe). More
Great service but as explained over the phone a day after the service I notice the passenger door paint was damaged over 2 inches which happened most likely at the time of the service. My wife went in on 10/1/22 to check out a Subaru Ascent Touring offered for $42,075 by Marlon Brown on 10/1/22. https://www.truecar.com/checkout/dealership/18923/inventory/4S4WMARD0N3416996/?currentStep= Touring offered for $42,075 by Marlon Brown on 10/1/22. https://www.truecar.com/checkout/dealership/18923/inventory/4S4WMARD0N3416996/?currentStep=summary&dealType=loan She mentioned that we were also interested in a Hybrid Highlander Platinum at Envision Toyota of Milpitas. She stated that we had been researching vehicles through TrueCar. The salesperson assigned to my wife upon arrival at the dealership did not show her the Touring. Instead, he showed her an LE Highlander Hybrid with a $23,000 markup. She tried to politely state that she was just looking and did not want to waste the salesperson’s time. The salesperson insisted that he would assist her in making a deal. He stated that he was a middle man between his sales manager Marlon Brown and my wife and that he enjoyed making deals. She tried to explain that the TrueCar Envision Toyota Dealership of Milpitas had the model we were considering. The salesperson insisted he would make an attractive deal. At the end of the day, my wife purchased an LE Hybrid Highlander for the same price as a Platinum Hybrid Highlander with “applied options,” like CilaJet, LoJack, Etching, Nitro, Invisashield” that we did not want, but could not apparently be removed from the vehicle. At 8pm, after 5 hours at the dealership and the last customer at the dealership, my wife received the LE vehicle. She noted that the contract stated the vehicle had 15 miles. However, upon possession of the vehicle, she noticed the vehicle had 24 miles, a 9 mile difference. Her drive home from the dealership was an additional 6 miles. When I arrived home that evening, my wife explained what happened. We spoke with Marlon Brown at 10 am, the start of business day the following morning. We inquired if we could trade the vehicle for the Platinum that we actually wanted. He replied that would not be possible because in CA there’s no “cooling off period.” He stated he would consider making us a deal on a future vehicle if we so desired, but of course any other vehicle would incur new taxes and registration. We purchased a vehicle at Downtown Toyota of Oakland in 2011 through TrueCar. It was a positive experience. The OTD was prearranged online. We simply arrived at the dealership with a cashier check. We were not assigned to a salesperson with whom we were not in contact with previously. My wife’s experience on 10/1/22 was not a positive one. In fact, she was sold the same vehicle we had been offered by Marlon on TrueCar earlier in September for $4K cheaper! https://www.truecar.com/dfe/offer/ab453909-b218-419c-b024-2bf49f3e55c0/?type=Offer The price offered for the same vehicle was $54,894 as referenced herein. We did not consider the vehicle online because it was not the trim we wanted, and the price was considered a “High Price” by TrueCar. At the dealership, my wife was sold the exact vehicle for a price of $58,894, exactly $4K more than the “High Price“ in TrueCar. This does not make sense and is quite frankly unethical. Needless to say, we are disappointed in the sales staff at Downtown Toyota of Oakland and in TrueCar for not holding the businesses with whom they work to a higher standard. We honestly expect more from both entities. At the very least a check for the $4K plus the difference of taxes and registration overcharged to my wife for the vehicle is in order. Regrettably, we are disappointed with the recent transaction at Downtown Toyota of Oakland and the unethical standards of the sales staff. More
