Professionalism I had never been to the dealership prior to purchasing my Acura. I was amazed at the selection of used cars. He introduced me to Jimmy Mac. The fun began. He was a pleasure to meet. Very affable and easy to get along with. No pressure what so ever. Told him what I was looking for and he showed me what he had and said if he didn't have it, he'd help me find one. Jimmy had exactly what I was looking for in the price range I wanted. I worked in sales/sales management for 40 years with Otis Elevator and am very aware of relationship selling. It's the only way to get repeat business. Jimmy has it to a tee. I will be back and will recommend him to anyone I talk to that is looking for a car. More
One stop along the way of testing cars of different brands When I buy a new car, I compare cars across the segment I am looking at (in this case it was small hatchbacks). This means I go to different dealers, When I buy a new car, I compare cars across the segment I am looking at (in this case it was small hatchbacks). This means I go to different dealers, and later on I stop by a couple of these dealers more than once to do secondary tests and collect additional information as I narrow down my choices. I worked with Vernon Chapman during my two visits to Elco, and he was quite helpful. Right off the bat on the first visit, he respected the fact that I was only testing the waters, took me on a test drive, and was able to answer all of my (thorough) questions and followup questions. He was genuinely polite and courteous and made decent non-car related chitchat. Yes, Vernon made nudges for my business. That's what salespeople do - they only keep their job if they can regularly close the deal. But it's not a matter of *whether* a salesperson pushes for my business when I'm out window shopping - it's how hard they push. The more irritating salespeople I've worked with pushed relentlessly to close a deal that same day, and a few even had the gall to insult my intelligence. Vernon, on the other hand, respected the boundaries I set and showed/gave me exactly what I wanted: information, and a feel for the car. Whether I end up buying the car from him or not, he deserves this review as an earnest recommendation. More
